Zokufa Media Productions is an international media-driven non-profit coalition work- ing to reduce the incidences of human tracking in South Africa, Nigeria and Afr

ica among vulnerable groups. ZMP exists to support current government & private sector efforts as we consolidate on the gains of democracy and our nations’ anti human trafficking policy. History of ZMP Interventions
started in 2013 in South Africa when we joined forces with (Media Champaign Against Human trafficking) of Nigeria, and together we produced 4 films of Trafficking in South Africa in English and Xhosa language. Zambia hosted our team in Lusaka at the Fresh- view Cinemas in October 2013 to do training in Media studies. This coalition revealed a greater need for more partnership, awareness, prevention and rehabilitation. In October 2014 we held an international Human trafficking awareness conference in partnership with MeCAHT in Simon’s Town South Africa to describe the awareness phase of ZMP and Media Campaign Against Human Tracking. The conference included the screening of films we have produced titled: Portia, My story and Fumanekile. The Films where also distributed on youtube (www.kingsofafrica.com/fumanekile). ZMP and MeCAHT partnered with Penial Restoration Church, South African Police service and communities of Khayelitsha and Worcester to do these films. Campaigns and night Outridge ministry were held in vulnerable communities of the Western Cape where we saw a high rate in prostitution, which will be an attraction to the lure of trackers. FILM AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

Our team has gone to several schools around the Western Cape and Eastern Cape to screen the films and educated students about the dangers of human trafficking and Ukuthwala in the world. Our team has also done media/ film trainings to these communities as a process of doing skills development in our communities. Our teams have also involved churches in the fight against human trafficking in South Africa.

YOUNG WOMEN LEADERS IN NEWS MEDIA MENTORSHIP WORKSHOP

A successful workshop hosted by the SABC News (SABC News Western Cape) in partnership with SANEF (South African National Editors Forum), the The University of the Western Cape and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).

A great dialogue aimed at encouraging, mentoring, and sharing best practice with young women in media. Students from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and the University of Western Cape, Stellenbosch University, and the College of Cape Town - Inspiring Minds had a moment to network with, and put a question to, some of the brightest minds in the South African multimedia and journalism space.

Speaker panel including: Deidre Uren, Professor Sisanda Nkoala, Crystal Orderson, Pam Zokufa, Zulpha Khan, An Wentzel and Tony Karon.

In the words of Prof Nkoala, “our goal is to identify and nurture young women with a passion for leadership in news media, equipping them with skills, confidence, and networks necessary to assume future leadership position”.

Zokufa Media Productions remains committed to mentoring young minds and aspiring Journalists. We always strive to share knowledge from generation to generation. Ours is to expose raw talent and to empower youth from all levels of society.

We are creating a network that will also enable indigent youth from previously disadvantaged communities to gain access to the multimedia and creative arts industry.

A special thanks to the SABC’s Regional Operational Manager Mr Kenneth Makatees and Professor Sisanda Nkoala and Dzudzie Faith Netshisaulu.
