We would like to say thank you to everyone who donated, shared our campaign and supported our Mandela Month Initiative. 💛 A special thanks to Sweet_Treats_Corner Dr Emile Kamalie for doing their part and generously donating ✨

Because of your generosity, we partnered with THE CINDY FOUNDATION to spend a meaningful day serving children in our community through games, lunch, self-care activities, and the distribution of care packs, party packs, and meals.

Thanks to your incredible support, our Toiletry Drive exceeded expectations. Many of the donated items will continue to support children and families through The Cindy Foundation’s ongoing outreach programmes.

This initiative was also an opportunity for our NGL learners to experience what leadership truly means — giving back to their own communities, serving others with compassion, and becoming the kind of leaders who create lasting change.

Thank you for helping us honour Madiba’s legacy through action. Together, we’re proving that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.

This is only the beginning. 💛

Hearts for Hygiene 💛

We are so excited to announce our Hearts for Hygiene campaign. 💛

A big part of our mission is to give back to our communities so for this year’s Mandela Day, the NGL team are collecting hygiene products for people in need.

Meet Donica ✨

Growing up in Retreat and Cafda, Donica learned early on that opportunities can sometimes come through unexpected doors — but having the courage to walk through them is what makes the difference.

After attending Delta Primary School, she received a scholarship opportunity that allowed her to complete high school at South Peninsula High School, matriculating in 2020. Determined to continue building her future, she went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy at UCT, with support from the Polyoak Family Foundation.

Her journey is a reminder that progress doesn’t always happen through giant leaps — sometimes it starts with one opportunity, one decision, and one step at a time.

Today, Donica is using her experiences to help inspire and guide others, showing young people that where you begin does not determine how far you can go.

Because every journey starts somewhere — and every step forward matters. ✨

Meet Michai ✨

Growing up in Retreat and attending schools like St Mary’s, Delta Primary, Heathfield High, and Cape Academy, Michai knows what it feels like to dream of something bigger while wondering if it’s truly possible.

For many young people, careers like medicine can feel distant — something meant for “other people” or places far removed from their reality. But despite the challenges and limitations around her, Michai never lost her passion for helping others and making a meaningful impact.

That passion led her to pursue a degree in Medicine — a demanding journey requiring years of study, discipline, sacrifice, and resilience.

Today, Michai is not only pursuing her dream career, but also using her journey to inspire others to believe that their circumstances do not define their future.

Through mentorship, she hopes to encourage young people to dream bigger, push beyond limitations, and realise that goals once thought impossible are achievable.

Because representation matters — and sometimes seeing someone from your community succeed is enough to change what feels possible. ✨

Meet Tamsyn ✨

From Steenberg and Grassy Park to becoming a Clinical Nurse Practitioner, Tamsyn’s journey is built on hard work, sacrifice, and purpose.

After completing her nursing degree at UWC through a full bursary, she continued pushing forward, completing her postgraduate studies while working full-time night shifts, fully self-funded.

Today, she provides essential healthcare to her community, making a real impact where it matters most.

Her journey is a reminder that growth isn’t easy, but it is always possible with discipline and determination. ✨
