On Tuesday, 13 October, we enjoyed another successful and insightfuly SACBW Helderberg networking morning.
Our theme was Networking & Collaboration, with two wonderful speakers, Madeleen van der Merwe and Hannalie Marsh, joining me for an interview-style conversation.

We explored questions such as:
How do you show up at a networking event?
What should you avoid doing at a networking event?
How can we build meaningful connections and collaborate more effectively?

Drawing on their different backgrounds and 20 years of collaborating as professionals and friends, Madeleen and Hannalie shared valuable insights, practical advice and real-life experiences. The ladies were so engaged that the note-taking didn't stop.

A big thank you to Madeleen and Hannalie for sharing their wisdom, to all the ladies who joined us, and to Bread, Milk & Honey for the lovely venue and delicious breakfast.

Matzikama — Another successful networking event brought local business women together for an insightful presentation by Heleen Meyer on CBS.

Honorary Life Member Hester du Bruyn also attended the event. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to join us and support the event.

Certificate of recognition was also handed over to Mariska Botha from in my Footsteps being a SACBW National Finalist for the Entrepreneur of the Year - Rising Star category. We wish her well for the final winner announcement to be done on the 24th October 2026.

Sometimes strategic thinking starts by simply looking at what is already in front of us. 🌿

On Tuesday, 15 September, our SACBW Helderberg Sisterhood gathered at the beautiful Bread, Milk & Honey at Vredenhof Organic Farm for a morning with a difference.

Our theme was Strategic Thinking, and our wonderful speaker, Colette van Wyk, owner of Maison Floraison (House of Bloom), challenged us to think about strategy in a completely different way.
For this morning, we went unplugged. No technology. No screens. Just conversation, creativity, connection — and a little space to slow down.

Colette invited us into a creative exercise using leaves and flower petals, asking us to look at what we already had and consider:
“What can I create with what is in front of me?”
She also shared her personal story of healing through healthy living and reminded us that sometimes we don’t need more. Sometimes, we simply need to look differently at what we already have.
And perhaps that is strategic thinking too.

Seeing possibilities where others may simply see what is available.
As the leader of SACBW Helderberg, one of the things I value most is creating spaces where women can connect, learn from one another and be reminded that we don't have to do business, or life, alone.

We are a Sisterhood of women in business, grounded in Christian values and committed to supporting, encouraging and connecting with one another as we live, lead and build our businesses.
And we are part of something even bigger, a national sisterhood of women across South Africa who believe in the power of connection, community and collaboration.

A heartfelt thank you to Colette for sharing her story, creativity and wisdom with us, and to every woman who joined us and contributed to such a refreshing morning.
