Mia's Therapy

Mia's Therapy Three and a half years later we are still awaiting a conviction. Mila has been affected the most, of the two children. Our calculated costs are as follows.

February 2018 ,Mia 6 at the time was affected the most from a sexual assault targeting herself and her family . 3 years later and still awaiting conviction and state help for therapy .The goal now is to raise funds to get Mia the private therapy she needs Mila’s Full Story 🦋

In February 2018, Mila (6years old at the time), her brother (2 at the time) and her mother were the victims of a r**e and

assault by their landlord. She suffers from severe anxiety, depression and is constantly in fear. She cannot not sleep at night and often refuses to go outside out of fear
During the last 3 years all avenues have been exhausted to get appropriate state help for Mila. The State claims that they are no longer able to assist or do not have the qualified staff to deal with her level of trauma. As a result, she has fallen behind in school as she is unable to concentrate and often, flatly refuses to attend school, as her level of anxiety is overwhelming. On a good day, she will go to school but often sits quietly at her desk with tears running down her face as she is constantly scared that something will happen. During 2021, Mila was moved to a new school for a fresh start. The School has assessed her, and believe she needs outside assistance, as the school can only help her to catch up and cope with work. The school has also tried to get extra assistance from the state but were told they can no longer help with her case. All state hospitals and charity organizations within our area have been requested for assistance, but they are unable to help as they are not trained to deal with her level of trauma. The only option left is to send Mila for private counselling. The family is unable to afford medical aid, so these funds are out of their financial capability. Various, child psychiatrists have been contacted, and the best we have been offered is a discounted rate of R 650.00 for a 40minute session, which includes play therapy. These two forms of therapy work in conjunction with each other, teaching coping mechanisms for her anxiety and facing the trauma. We have managed to find someone who is willing to give us a rate of R 250/lesson to help her outside of school once a week and assist in getting her up to date with her work. These would all need to be done on a weekly basis for a minimum of a year. R 650.00 – Psychiatrist & Play Therapy
R 250.00 – Extra lessons
Total of R 900.00/week and Minimum of R 3 600.00 per month based on a 4-week month
For a years’ worth of sessions, we need to raise a minimum of R 43 200.00

How you can help. A once off donation to help assist getting Mia’s counselling going or signing a month debit order form. If 45 people commit to a monthly debit of R 100 (A bottle of wine), we can secure Mia’s future and ensure she gets the best possible help. An account has been opened in Mila’s name; anyone who donates will be added to a mailing list, where her monthly bills and bank statement will be available for all to ensure total transparency.
