🌿 A NEW BEGINNING… A NEW LIFE*🌿

Today, we witnessed something truly beautiful.

A young woman stood before us and took her Shahaadah, submitting herself to her Creator and entering the beautiful fold of Islam. 🤍

And then, in a beautiful reflection of her desire to begin this new chapter with a clean heart and a clean slate, she chose to immediately enter into Nikah.

SubhaanAllah.

There are moments in life that remind us of the incredible mercy of Allah.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Islam demolishes what came before it.”
Sahih Muslim

Think about that.

The person who walks towards Allah sincerely is not defined by yesterday. Allah opens the door to tomorrow.

A revert is not someone who has simply changed a religion. They are someone beginning an entirely new journey — often leaving behind familiar ways, relationships, environments and everything they once knew.

And that is where our responsibility begins.

It is easy to celebrate a Shahadah.

But what happens the day after?

Who will sit with the new Muslim when they have questions?

Who will teach them how to pray?

Who will help them find Qur'an, Islamic literature and a supportive community?

Who will be there when the excitement fades and the challenges of a new journey begin?

Dawah is not only about bringing someone to Islam. It is also about helping them remain strong upon Islam.

Every book given.
Every class provided.
Every journey made to support a new Muslim.
Every Qur'an placed into their hands.
Every person who gives their time, wealth or skills to this work…

can become part of someone's journey to Allah.

So if Allah has blessed you with wealth, spend in Dawah.

If Allah has blessed you with knowledge, teach.

If Allah has blessed you with time, serve.

If Allah has blessed you with a welcoming heart, open your doors.

And if you can do nothing else, make du‘aa.

Never underestimate what your contribution can mean to someone who has just found Islam.

Perhaps the book you helped provide becomes the reason someone learns to pray.

Perhaps the support you helped fund keeps a new Muslim connected to the Ummah.

Perhaps a small contribution you considered insignificant becomes part of a journey that ultimately leads someone to *Jannah*.

Today, we celebrate a Shahadah.

But let us also remember the responsibility that comes afterwards.

🤲 SUPPORT DAWAH. SUPPORT NEW MUSLIMS.

Your contribution helps Discover Islam continue reaching out, teaching, supporting and assisting those who are discovering Islam and beginning their journey as Muslims.

May Allah accept this young sister's Shahadah, strengthen her upon Islam, bless her Nikah with love, mercy and barakah, and make her journey a source of guidance for many others.

And may Allah accept every person who spends from what He has given them to spread His Deen and support those who embrace it.

Welcome to Islam, sister. 🤍

A new chapter.
A clean slate.
A beautiful journey home.

الحمد لله رب العالمين

🇿🇦 HERITAGE DAY — OUR HERITAGE, OUR FAITH☪️

Today, as South Africans celebrate Heritage Day, we celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures, languages and traditions that make our country unique.

As Muslims, we too have a proud heritage that is deeply woven into the story of South Africa.

From the earliest Muslims who arrived on our shores, to the scholars, teachers, community leaders and ordinary families who kept Islam alive through generations, our heritage is one of faith, sacrifice, resilience and service.

Our history includes those who stood against oppression, those who established madrasahs and mosques, those who preserved Islamic knowledge, and those who opened their homes and hearts to others.

But our Muslim heritage is not only found in the past.

It lives on today—in our masajid, our families, our Qur’an classes, our acts of charity, our hospitality and in every effort made to share the beautiful message of Islam.

And perhaps one of the greatest lessons our heritage teaches us is this:

We don't preserve our heritage merely by remembering where we came from.
We preserve it by carrying its values forward.*

Allah ﷻ reminds us:

“O mankind! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may know one another.”
> — Qur’an 49:13

Our different histories and cultures need not divide us. They can become bridges through which we learn from one another, understand one another and build a better South Africa together.

On this Heritage Day, let us remember those who came before us, appreciate the blessings we have today, and ask ourselves:

What heritage are we leaving behind for those who come after us?

May Allah preserve our beautiful Islamic heritage, strengthen our communities and enable us to pass our faith, values and knowledge on to the next generation. 🤲🏽

🇿🇦 Our heritage is part of our story.
Our faith is part of who we are.
And our future is a trust.**

Building bridges through knowledge.

🌸 WOMEN WHO BUILT THE UMMAH — NUSAYBAH رضي الله عنها

She was a mother. A believer. A woman of courage.

At Uhud, when the Muslims were under immense pressure, Nusaybah رضي الله عنها stood firm and defended the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Her story reminds us that true strength isn't measured by position or status — it is found in faith, courage, sacrifice and conviction.

To our young Muslim women: Be strong in your faith. Be courageous in your principles. And never underestimate the difference one person can make.

May Allah be pleased with Nusaybah رضي الله عنها and grant us the courage to stand for what is right.

🌸 Women Who Built the Ummah

🌸 Women Who Built the Ummah | ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها
She was a woman of knowledge, courage, compassion and faith.

ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها became one of the greatest teachers of the Ummah, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge that continues to benefit Muslims centuries later.

Her story reminds our daughters and our young women that true empowerment begins with faith, knowledge and character.

🌸 Learn. Grow. Serve. Leave a legacy.

May Allah be pleased with ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها and allow us to follow in the footsteps of the great women of Islam. Ameen.

🌸 Women Who Built the Ummah | Khadījah رضي الله عنها

Long before the world spoke about “empowering women”, Islam gave us women whose īmān, courage, wisdom and sacrifice helped shape generations.

Khadījah رضي الله عنها was a woman of strength — not because she sought the spotlight, but because she believed, supported, sacrificed and stood firmly for what was right.

Her legacy reminds us that true strength is not always loud.

Sometimes it is found in faith.
In character.
In standing beside the truth.
And in helping build something that will outlive you.

🌸 To our young women:
You have a purpose. You have a voice. You have the ability to leave a legacy.

What will you build?

🌸 Women Who Built the Ummah

Saartjie van die Kaap: A Legacy That Outlived Her

As we commemorate Women’s Day, we remember that Muslim women have always had a role to play in building communities, preserving faith and leaving a legacy for generations to come.

One such woman was Saartjie van die Kaap.

Living in the early days of Islam at the Cape, Saartjie inherited property on Dorp Street, Cape Town. That property became associated with the establishment and continuation of Auwal Masjid — South Africa’s first and oldest mosque.

Imagine the legacy.

A woman, living in a difficult era, whose connection to a piece of land became part of a legacy that has endured for more than two centuries.

Today, that masjid still stands.

And it reminds us that a woman does not have to hold a position of power to make a powerful difference.

She can build.
She can teach.
She can support.
She can preserve.
She can inspire.

And sometimes, the impact of one woman’s contribution reaches generations she will never live to see.

🌿 To our mothers, daughters, wives, sisters and young women:

Your worth is not measured by how loudly the world notices you.

Your strength lies in your īmān, your character, your knowledge, your courage and the positive legacy you leave behind.

Islam has never taught women that they are insignificant.

Rather, our history is filled with women who shaped families, communities and generations.

Empower our women with īmān.
Empower them with knowledge.
Empower them with purpose.
And watch them build a stronger Ummah.

🌸 Empower a woman. Empower a nation.

📍 Discover Islam at UCT – Islam Week 2026

Alhamdulillāh, yesterday Discover Islam had the honour of once again participating in the annual Islam Week at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

For a number of years now, Allah ﷻ has blessed us with the opportunity to be part of this wonderful initiative, and we are grateful to have attended once again this year.

We engaged in many sincere and thought-provoking conversations with students from diverse backgrounds. Questions were welcomed, misconceptions about Islam were addressed, and meaningful discussions took place in an atmosphere of respect and understanding.

Every conversation is a reminder that da'wah is not merely about speaking—it's about listening with compassion, responding with wisdom, and representing the beautiful character of Islam.

Allah ﷻ says:

"Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and debate with them in a manner that is best." (Qur'an 16:125)

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

"Convey from me, even if it is one verse." (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)

We ask Allah ﷻ to accept this humble effort, to guide those sincerely searching for the truth, and to reward everyone who contributed, volunteered, supported, or made du'ā for this initiative.

May Allah continue to open doors for the message of Islam to reach hearts with wisdom, mercy and sincerity. Āmīn.
