Three-year-old Tinotenda lives with his grandmother, Sereniya, and several cousins.

Sereniya is a widow who carries the responsibility of caring for her grandchildren. She also suffers from ongoing back problems following an accident two years ago. Unable to maintain regular employment, she relies on occasional jobs to provide for her family.

Some days, the family can afford only one meal, which they eat at night. Tinotenda was often hungry and would cry for food, unable to understand why there was nothing for him to eat. At times, he relied on neighbours for a meal.

When Tinotenda enrolled at the Life Child Early Childhood Development Centre, his life began to change.

Today, he receives two nutritious meals every school day, alongside quality early childhood education in a safe and caring environment. He can return home without the hunger that once affected so much of his day.

Although he is one of the youngest children at the centre, Tinotenda is already making wonderful progress. He can introduce himself, tie his shoelaces and fasten his buttons. He has made new friends and says he loves coming to school because he can learn, play with his friends and enjoy nutritious meals.

For Tinotenda’s grandmother, Life Child has provided more than education. It has brought practical support, relief and hope during an incredibly difficult season.

Endinako’s story - From worry to confidence

There were days when Endinako’s (girl in the pictures) family had nothing to eat.

Her mother, Nokuthula, was searching for work while raising four children alone. When food ran out, she sometimes contacted Life Child to ask whether anything could be shared with the family.

Life Child also provided Endinako with new clothes when the family could not afford them. Then came the breakthrough they had been hoping for: Nokuthula found work as a cleaner (in the image).

Endinako proudly arrived at school in a brand-new tracksuit and announced:

“My mother is working! She is going to buy me new clothes and buy all of us KFC.”

The change goes far beyond clothing. Endinako is growing in confidence and taking her education seriously. She can now write her full name and the names of her mother and siblings. She is learning to count and sequence numbers up to 100, and she has become a caring, helpful friend in the classroom.

This is what happens when a child and her family receive support at the moment they need it most.

It is with deep sadness and grateful hearts that we remember Vuyiseka Olivia Sitsh*tshi, who passed away in August 2026.

Vuyiseka faithfully served as the principal at Life Child Preschool for 11 years. She was a beloved teacher, a woman of deep faith, and a passionate champion for children. Through Montessori education, Christian teaching, and her genuine love for every child, she touched countless young lives and helped nurture a lasting love of learning.

Above all, Vuyiseka loved Jesus with all her heart and faithfully lived out the calling He placed on her life. We thank God for the gift of her life and ask you to keep her daughter, sisters, and extended family in prayer.

The seeds she planted will continue to grow through the children, families, colleagues, and communities she touched. Her life was a blessing, her memory is a treasure, and her legacy will live on.

What if your Saturday morning walk could change a child's life?

During the entire month of October, thousands of people around the world will lace up their shoes and walk 5 km in support of orphaned and vulnerable children.
It's more than a walk. Every registration helps Life Child provide children in South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe with access to education, nutritious meals, healthcare, family support, and opportunities to build a brighter future.

This month we held our first Life Child Padel For A Purpose Event in celebration of Mandela Day!

It wasn’t just a day for fun and fitness; it was a day to make a difference in the lives of orphan and vulnerable children who need care, education, food, and a loving community. All funds raised from this event will be going towards the children whom Life Child serves. Players of all ages and experience levels joined in, making it a wonderful family-friendly event.

Thank you to all the participants, volunteers, Eden Padel Club in Durbanville Hills, and all our generous Event Sponsors (donations and prizes). A special thank you to Luke, Fairtree, Wiehann Wagenaar, Berries Express, Urban Men, The Cove Cpt, Rusky.bizzz and Lee-ann Eliott (Movewithleeann).

A heartfelt thank you to Ladles of Love for your incredible generosity.

Your donation of essential pantry staples, including oats, rice, beans and pilchards, will help provide nutritious meals for the children at our Preschool and those living in our foster homes.

Every morning, our wonderful cook, Veliswa, prepares breakfast and lunch for the children at our Preschool with so much love and care. This donation helps ensure she has the ingredients she needs to continue serving healthy, nourishing meals each day. It also provides vital support to the families in our foster homes, where these staples will help put wholesome meals on the table.

Your commitment to providing a six month food supply, with collections every two months and the remaining stock stored until each collection, is an incredible blessing and practical support to our ministry.

Thank you to Danny and the entire Ladles of Love team for standing with us and helping care for orphaned and vulnerable children. Your generosity is making a real difference, one meal and one life at a time.

HOLIDAY CLUB PRAISE REPORT! 🎉
Life Child Gives Back and Life Church Philippi hosted a Holiday Club last week from 14th July to 17th July!
Here is what happened:
👦 14 and 15 July (Grades 1–6):
We had 70 children attend and are celebrating 25 salvations!
16 and 17 July (Grades 8–12):
We had 31 teenagers attend and are celebrating 10 salvations!
It was a great, well-attended week! The children and youth learned about their identity in Christ, alcohol and substance abuse, and social media usage. They were also encouraged to study and choose career paths. 📚✨
They played games, enjoyed face painting, and took part in many more fun activities. They also received soup and bread on arrival, muffins or scones for snack time, and a delicious lunch at the end of the day. 🍲🍎
Thank you to everyone who supported us and made this week possible! God is moving in Philippi! 🙌❤️

Every week, women from our Family Strengthening programme in Cape Town gather for cell group. They come from different backgrounds and face different challenges, but they share a desire to grow, encourage one another and build stronger families.

The evening begins with conversation as everyone catches up on the week. Together they pray, read the Bible and talk honestly about what is happening in their lives. It is a place where friendships grow, burdens are shared and hope is strengthened through community.

For Xoliswa, these weekly gatherings have become an important part of her journey. She recently shared that her relationship with God has grown and said, "I don't leave my house without praying." When the phone she had been using to read the Bible stopped working, receiving a printed Bible was a timely reminder that she was not walking this journey alone.

Strong families are built over time, through consistent support and meaningful relationships. We are thankful to see these women encouraging one another every week as they continue taking positive steps forward.
