On June 1st, we celebrated International Children's Day with the children at The Peace School and The Okalawo Village in Mozambique. ๐
For many of the children in our communities, childhood looks very different. Many of them are orphaned and are being raised by grandparents, relatives, or guardians. Others carry responsibilities far beyond their years. Instead of spending their days playing, they may be caring for younger siblings, looking after the home, and helping while their families work in the fields.
That is why this day is so special.
International Children's Day is an opportunity for our children to simply be children - to play, laugh, celebrate, and enjoy being carefree for a day.
The morning began with parents, guardians, and caregivers gathering to watch the children present dramas, songs, reading performances, and other special presentations. It was a proud moment for families to celebrate the children's hard work, talents, and achievements.
After the performances, the children enjoyed a special party filled with games, laughter, delicious food, and treats. The joy on their faces was a beautiful reminder of how important these moments are. Every child deserves to feel loved, valued, and celebrated.
Thank you to everyone who helps make days like these possible for the children at The Peace School and The Okalawo Village. Together, we are creating opportunities for children to experience the happiness, care, and hope that every child deserves. โค๏ธ
