2026 Western Cape Schools Chess Primary School Individual Championship ♟️🔥

What an amazing experience it has been for Thubalakhe Matomela and Amara Chidela Titus to play at a Provincial level 6 months after being introduced to chess.
For the club and parents this was a miracle, we didn't expect them to be qualifying to such levels at their first year of playing Chess but because of the grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, here we are. ❤️✨️

A big shout out to Zizipho Kopati for accompanying the Juniors to Gansbaai for the weekend in absence of their coach, Sibusiso Dube, being out of province. The Juniors enjoyed themselves under her guidance. May God richly bless you, Zizipho Kopati. ❤️

♟️ DUBEZ CHESS CLUB MONTHLY TOURNAMENT – APRIL

🏆 WINNER: ASEMAHLE SKEYI

Once again, Asemahle Skeyi prevented 11-year-old Aphakama Sondlo from winning the monthly tournament.

Just like in April, Aphakama was only one win away from claiming the title, until Asemahle got paired with him and calmly claimed the title for herself. Aphakama is now a two-time runner-up to Asemahle, while Asemahle becomes the first player to win the Dubez Chess Club Monthly Tournament twice.

Talk about being a final boss. 😭♟️

This tournament also served as great preparation for FOUR SEASONS CHESS CLUB’s Indoor Friendly Tournament, which will be held on Sunday, 03 May.

Congratulations to Asemahle Skeyi! A well-deserved victory, and another reminder that in chess, the board doesn’t care how close you were, you still have to finish the job. 🔥

The mission continues. 🔥♟️
