📚📖 BIG NEWS for Ubunye Educare Centre!

📖📚We are beyond excited to share that our centre will be receiving FREE African storybooks from Book Dash! 🎉

Thousands of beautiful, locally written and illustrated books are being printed right now, and ours are on the way!

What’s coming for our little learners:
✅ A whole set of brand-new storybooks in English and IsiXhosa
✅ Fun reading tip leaflets for parents and teachers to make story time even more magical
✅ Books to take home and keep, to build a love for reading from an early age

Book Dash is printing 560,000 books this year for 150 centres across South Africa, and Ubunye Educare Centre is proud to be one of them! We can’t wait to fill our shelves and share these stories with our children.

*🌍✨ Exploring the Planets with our learners! ✨🌌*

This week at Ubunye Educare Centre, our Grade R's are blasting off into SPACE! 🚀

The little astronauts have been learning about the 8 planets in our solar system - from the hot, rocky Mercury to the big, stormy Jupiter, and the beautiful rings of Saturn 🪐.

We made our own planet mobiles, sang the “Planets Song”, and talked about how Earth is our special home where we take care of each other and nature 🌎💚

*Parents:* Ask your child tonight:
“What planet spins really fast?”
“What colour is Mars?”
“Which planet has rings?”

It’s amazing to see their curiosity and big imaginations light up!

🌙💙 UBUNYE PAJAMA DAY! 💙🌙

What a wonderful and cozy day we had at Ubunye Educare Centre as our learners and staff came to school dressed in their favourite pajamas! 🛏️✨

Our Pajama Day was filled with laughter, fun activities, storytelling, and lots of smiles. The children enjoyed a relaxed and exciting day while learning, playing, and spending time with their friends.

Events like these create special memories for our learners and help make school a joyful and welcoming place where every child feels loved and valued. ❤️

A big thank you to all our parents and caregivers for supporting this fun-filled day and helping our little ones participate with such enthusiasm.

Ubunye is proud to support our partner *PSFA*!

This walk is all about *fighting hunger and nourishing young minds*. Every step helps Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) provide daily nutritious meals so learners can focus, learn, and thrive.

*Community, let’s do this together!*
Lace up, show up, and walk with us. Big or small, every step counts.

🚶‍♀️✨ Entries are officially OPEN for the PSFA's 58th Blisters for Bread in association with Lucky Star!

📍 Cape Town – Join thousands of Capetonians on Sunday, 16 August 2026, at the Common Fields, Green Point (next to the Green Point Cricket Club), for this iconic walk that fights childhood hunger.

💙 Your R125 entry fee will enable PSFA to provide 23 vulnerable learners with a cooked breakfast and lunch for a day. Your steps = their meals.

👟 Choose your route:
- 10km walk – starts 07:30
- 5km walk – starts 08:00

🎶 Expect live music, family fun, food stalls, and a vibrant atmosphere. Plus, every entrant gets a medal and refreshments courtesy of Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages.

And we’re finishing with the yummiest ones… *TASTE & SMELL* 🍓👅

What we learned:
1. *See* - with our eyes 👀
2. *Hear* - with our ears 👂
3. *Smell* - with our nose 👃
4. *Taste* - with our tongue 👅
5. *Touch* - with our hands ✋

Parent activities:Blindfold taste + smell test: Ask your child: “Is this sweet or sour? Nice smell or yucky?”
