Thank you for clothing our community 💛

Yesterday our yard was full of smiles as we handed out donated clothes and shoes to families, children and elders in need. From little ones finding something bright to wear, to moms and grandparents leaving with bags for the whole household, every item found a new home.

None of this happens without you. To everyone who dropped off bags, sorted piles and gave their time: you made a real difference to so many people yesterday. A special thank you to our volunteers who worked tirelessly to keep everything organised and make sure everyone was served.

Isipho Sabantu means "a gift for the people," and yesterday that's exactly what it was. 🙏

If you have clothes, shoes or blankets you no longer need, please keep us in mind. Every donation helps a family in our community.

🎉❤️ Today we celebrate a very special milestone, the 50th birthday of our incredible founder, Siphokazi Dlisani! ❤️🎉

Siphokazi’s heart for people is at the centre of everything Isipho Sabantu stands for. Through her compassion, determination and unwavering commitment to her community, she has created far more than a community kitchen. She has created a place of hope, dignity, kindness and love.

Week after week, she continues to serve children, the elderly and families in Mfuleni, making sure that people are not only fed, but that they know they are seen, valued and cared for. Her dedication has touched countless lives and inspired so many others to give, volunteer and become part of this beautiful journey.

Today, on her 50th birthday, we celebrate the remarkable woman behind it all. 🥳🎂

Siphokazi, may you receive today some of the love and kindness that you so freely give to others every day. May you be abundantly blessed with good health, happiness, strength and many more years of making a difference.

❤️ HAPPY 4TH ANNIVERSARY ISIPHO SABANTU ❤️

Yesterday was such a special day.

Isipho Sabantu Community Kitchen, founded by my dear friend Siphokazi Dlisani, celebrated four years of serving the community.

And instead of making the day about themselves, Siphokazi and her team did what they have done from the very beginning: they gave to others.

Food packs, blankets, clothing and other essentials were prepared for members of the community, with something special for the children and elderly. ❤️

Siphokazi said something yesterday that really stayed with me:

“It’s not easy, but we’re trying our best… four years later, we are still standing.”

And that really sums up her journey.

There have been challenges and sacrifices along the way, but Siphokazi’s determination, faith and huge heart have kept Isipho Sabantu going and touching so many lives.

I have watched this incredible initiative grow over the years, and I am incredibly proud of what she and her team have achieved.

To everyone who has donated, contributed through SnapScan, shared a post, supplied food or clothing, volunteered or simply told someone about Isipho Sabantu, thank you. Every contribution matters.

And to you, Siphokazi, congratulations on four beautiful years of giving, caring and serving. What you have built is something very special. ❤️🙏

Hi everyone❤️

We would like to share some feedback regarding the clothes we have been collecting for the families affected by the recent fire at Tambo Square, Mfuleni.

Today, we were able to deliver the donated clothes to the affected community. We also managed to drop off a few loaves of bread and 5-litre concentrated drink. Although it wasn’t much, we sincerely hope that these contributions will make a meaningful difference to those who are currently in need.

A heartfelt thank you to each and every person who donated so generously. Your kindness and willingness to help truly means a lot, and together, every contribution makes a difference. ❤️

For those who would still like to assist, donations of clothing, food or other essential items are most welcome.

The affected families are next to Sandra Educare Centre in Mfuleni.

Although we may not update our page every day, our work continues. Our commitment to nourishing the bodies of the people in our community remains as strong as ever.

We continue to cook and serve meals five days a week — Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Even today we prepared and served a warm meal to members of our community.

Our goal remains simple: to make a difference, one meal at a time. ❤️

Yesterday we reached out to Blue Ribbon with an urgent request for sponsorship to support the affected families.

We are extremely grateful for the company’s timely response and for meeting this need with the urgency it required. Today, the bread was delivered and distributed to families and community members who are currently in need. Seeing the relief and gratitude in the community of Mfuleni was truly heartwarming. ❤️

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Law enforcement for assisting in safeguarding the delivery and ensuring that the truck reached its destination safely.

As recipients of Blue Ribbon's support for the past four years, we remain deeply grateful for their continued commitment to Isipho Sabantu Community Kitchen, their willingness to respond when we reached out, and their ongoing contribution towards enriching the lives of those in our community.

Following the devastating fire that affected families in the informal settlement, we visited the community yesterday afternoon and prepared and served a warm meal to those currently in need.

Seeing the situation firsthand was heartbreaking. The devastation is dire, and many families have not even begun rebuilding their homes. They are in urgent need of any assistance the community can offer.

We are grateful to everyone who has already responded to our call for clothing donations. We have received a few drop-offs and are still collecting, with plans to deliver the donations to the affected families sometime next week.

If you would like to assist, you can:

- Donate clothing, blankets, food, or any other essential items.
- Drop donations off with us, and we will include them in the collection.
- Alternatively, you are welcome to deliver donations directly to the affected community.

If you would like to cook a meal for the community, please refer to our previous post for the location coordinates.

Every contribution, big or small, can make a difference during this difficult time.

We were asked to submit supporting evidence showcasing the work we do and the impact we have made.

On Monday, our founder Siphokazi Dlisani was contacted by The Voice Of The Cape(Radio Station) for an interview, and received the most incredible news…

Community Appeal for Urgent Donations📢

Last night, a devastating fire broke out at the informal settlement next to Sandra Preschool, leaving approximately 26 families without homes. Thankfully, no lives were lost, but many families have lost almost everything they own and are now facing the difficult task of rebuilding their lives.

We are kindly appealing to anyone who is in a position to assist to donate anything they can spare, including:

Clothes and shoes
Blankets and bedding
Pots, pans and other kitchen utensils
Food and groceries
Toiletries and other essential household items
Any other useful items that may help families during this difficult time

For those who have the capacity to prepare and provide cooked meals, your assistance would also be greatly appreciated. Providing a warm meal can make a meaningful difference while these families try to find their feet again.

As Mandela Day came to a close, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to every volunteer, supporter, donor, and visitor who chose to spend their 67 minutes with us at Isiphosabantu Community Kitchen.

Thank you for trusting our organisation with your time, your generosity, and your hearts. Your presence means more than words can express.

We were once again humbled by the incredible turnout from our community. It is always encouraging to see so many people come together in service, and it reminds our visitors and partners that the need we speak about is real—and so is the impact we can make when we work together.

A very special thank you goes to Lens Plus for ending our Mandela Day on such a meaningful note.

Your generous donation of food, together with warm beanies and scarves, could not have come at a better time as Cape Town experiences the cold winter season. You have not only filled stomachs—you have also helped keep our community warm.

To every donor, thank you for placing your trust in us. We do not take that responsibility lightly. As faithful stewards, we promise that every item donated will reach the rightful and deserving recipients in our community.
