City of Cape Town advises of critical electricity maintenance in Woodstock, Salt River and Observatory in October
The City’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department advises residents in parts of Observatory, Salt River and Woodstock of infrastructure maintenance taking place in the area. The work will take place on Friday, 4 October 2024 from 20:00 to 08:00 or alternatively on Friday 11 October 2024, from 20:00 to 08:00, depending on weather conditions. The City apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. Read more below:

Please note that the outage duration is an estimation and restoration could be delayed due to the complex nature of the infrastructure work. Our teams will work as quickly as possible to complete the work within the communicated time.
Should the electricity not be restored within communicated timeframes, residents are advised to check the City’s official communication channels, including the City’s social media channels, or contact the Call Centre before logging a service request in relation to the planned upgrade work.
Some news channels could imply that this work affects all areas in the city. This is not true. The work will be carried out in the Observatory and surrounds only.
The infrastructure maintenance will take place on:

Please note:
The electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the interruption. Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.
