A Tribute to a Faithful Servant: Honoring Pastor Khaya Maphinda
What a humble servant, and a giant of faith Pastor Khaya Maphinda was! You have lived a life fully dedicated to serving the Lord, and like David, you have faithfully served God’s purpose in your generation.
Your commitment to SCO has been marked by distinction, excellence, and profound humility.
You consistently supported the work of SCO, the leaders of SCO at regional, provincial and national level, not only through your earnest and fervent prayers but also through your faithful monthly giving of your resources – a silent yet powerful testament to your unwavering dedication and love for the house of God.
I vividly recall your selfless example, such as the time you will drive to the National Council meetings in Bloemfontein while serving as Chairperson of the Eastern Cape South.
You would drive back on Saturday night, solely to be present at church the following morning. This is the measure of your devotion – always prioritising your service to God and His people above personal convenience.
We honor your life, Pastor Khaya Maphinda, a true giant of faith and a faithful servant of the Most High God. You ran your race with endurance, love and sacrifice.
You have truly lived out the call to ‘empty yourself,’ serving SCO, the student community, the church, and the community with immense love, wisdom, and dedication.
Your life stands as a powerful inspiration to many, demonstrating what it means to follow Christ not just in word, but in action, sacrifice, and spirit.
*Acts 13:36a (ESV):
"For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation..."*
This verse beautifully echoes the testimony of your life, Pastor Maphinda. Like David, you have served God’s purpose in your generation with integrity, humility, and unwavering faithfulness, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to impact generations to come.
Rest in God’s perfect peace, beloved servant of the Most High God.
