We are ready to receive our ECD children and Aftercare children for 2026 at the Door of Hope on 14/01/2026. We pray it will be a blessed year for the children, teachers, and volunteers. We also pray that they will be trained in the knowledge needed for their age-group. We also pray for good results and great success for each child to progress to the next level.

Our Scripture we are standing on:
Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Psalm 127:3: “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from Him.”

Another successful market day was held where we could bless the community with clothes, linen, household items, and kitchenware. We thank all the donors who continuously bless the ministry to be able to uplift the community. We were able to hand out another 1000 items.

God's principle of giving:
In October 2024, we cleared out the storehouse with a community market day. In less than 3 months, our storehouse was overflowing, and we had another market day in mid-January 2025. In less than 2 months thereafter, our storehouse was overflowing once again, and we hosted another market day. We had several of The Bay cell members come to assist us for 2 days to pack out all the items, assist with the handing out procedure, and tidy up afterwards. As usual, the staff and volunteers at the Door of Hope made the event a great success.

Luke 6:38 (ESV) "Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

Acts 20:35 (ESV) “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Every now and again, Tania Jones phones and says they have a blessing for the community children. She arrives a short while later with the German volunteers to hand out 100 hot dogs to the children. Today was one of those days. We are so grateful for always thinking about the children in the community. Thank you Tania and your team.

Philippians 1:3-5 (ESV) "“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.”

We continue to praise God for partnerships and donations to improve the quality of life for the children.

Snyman Incorporated Attorneys, representing their Caterpillar Foundation, together with Greeff Gordon's Bay Estate Agents, visited the Door of Hope to deliver stationery they had collected. They blessed all the children with delicious, freshly baked cupcakes. We thank Irma Gaybba from Snyman/Caterpillar, Louelle Lubbe from Greeff, and Marli. whose collaboration made it a memorable afternoon for the children at the Door of Hope.

The children learnt what type of work estate agents and attorneys do.

We praise God for partnerships formed to create a successful ministry.

Easter 2025 started off with Good Friday, at The Bay Christian Family Church, where Rodger and Bianca took most of the children in the Youth Group (13 to 18 years) to the morning service.

On Saturday morning, the children of the community were treated to ice cream and playtime at the Door of Hope.

On Saturday afternoon, the Youth4Life children came together to share the Gospel in the Temperance Town Community, demonstrating how Easter eggs can be used to show how Jesus washed our sins away (the chocolate), making us righteous and clean (the white). We now have the Holy Spirit in us to help us every day (the yellow). After sharing the Gospel, they shared the Easter eggs, Christian Literature, and leaflets.

Saturday evening, the community of Temperance Town was invited to a movie night. The Passion of the Christ was shown, and afterwards they received a meal.

We praise God for a blessed Easter, and we thank all the sponsors who made the finances available for the event.

Mark 10:14 (NKJV) “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.”

On Mother's Day 2025, Starfish Ministries dedicated to the Mothers of Temperance Town. The Mothers received testimony from one of the local ladies who turned her life around by giving her life to the Lord in 2024. She shared her journey and what the Lord has done for her.

We also received Word from Margaret, Rodger, Bianca, and Louis.

Afterwards, the Mothers were treated with gifts from Madri from Youth4Life - the children handed out the gifts and also shared how much their Mothers and Grandmothers mean to them.

The Mothers received a hearty, warm meal.

We praise God for a blessed day and thank all the sponsors for making this day possible.

Proverbs 31:26-28 (NKJV) “She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her.”

Our Vision at Starfish Ministries is Hope, Empowerment, and Victory!

We are excited to kick off 2025 with two empowerment programs.

First, We are enrolling one of our staff members into a Site Learning Program course presented by Grassroots, which is registered and accepted by the WCED (Western Cape Education Department) as qualified ECD Educators.

Second, Our youth will receive a 16-week John Maxwell Mentorship program from Madri from Youth4Life commencing this Friday. This will teach the youth the importance of discipleship and how to mentor the younger children. Successful candidates will receive certificates afterward that will set them up for further leadership programs. During this same time period, Rodger, Bianca, and Estelle will also be equipped to run the program in years to come.

We pray for the staff and youth attending the courses to successfully complete these courses and run the full race.

Just 7 weeks after the last Market Day we had received sufficient donations to host another market day on 17/01/2025 for the community of Temperance Town.

We had clothes, linen, shoes, glassware, photo frames, children's books, and lovely Christian books to hand out.

The community was thoroughly blessed. We thank all the donors for continually stocking the store room for these special days.
