| We celebrate the work of TREE-ecd and their toy-making workshop, which contributes to creating engaging learning experiences for young children.

Play is an important part of early childhood development, supporting creativity, problem-solving, communication, and learning. Through the development of locally made learning materials, initiatives such as these help strengthen early learning environments and make quality resources more accessible.

Thank you to the TREE team for their continued commitment to supporting young learners and early childhood development.

As part of the newly launched water projects in Lufefeni and Pamlaville villages, 20 young people from both communities received basic training in construction, plumbing, and maintenance.

To support the long-term sustainability of the projects, these young community members will assist with maintaining the infrastructure, including repairing broken taps and addressing basic maintenance needs.

A community water committee has also been established to support local oversight and shared responsibility for the project.
Sustainable development is strengthened when communities are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and structures to support long-term impact.

Solar Powered Borehole Launch | Today, the Eastern Cape Education Trust and HCI Foundation launched two water projects in Lufefeni and Pamlaville villages.

The projects will support approximately 7,000 people, with 22 communal taps bringing clean drinking water closer to households and communities.

Improved access to water means women and young girls will no longer need to travel long distances to collect water from wells shared with livestock and contributes to healthier communities, improved safety, and greater dignity.

Access to clean water remains an important foundation for sustainable community development and resilience.

Solar Powered Borehole Launch | Today marks another important step in strengthening access to clean water as part of the ongoing project support visit week in the Eastern Cape.

Access to clean water contributes to healthier communities, improved livelihoods, and greater resilience for families and households. We look forward to sharing more from the Matatiele borehole launch as the visit continues.

We are pleased to see our partner, Tshepang Educare, facilitating initiatives that support children and families through education, awareness, and practical assistance during Children’s Protection Month.

Creating supportive environments for children contributes to healthier, more resilient communities and reflects the value of working together to create meaningful impact.

Reflecting on Impact | Clean Water, Real Change

As we prepare for our upcoming solar powered borehole launch in Matatiele, Eastern Cape, we reflect on the impact of clean water access in rural communities.

A study by the University of KwaZulu-Natal, commissioned by the HCI Foundation, evaluated a solar-powered borehole in a rural KwaZulu-Natal village.

The findings show meaningful change:
-100% increase in water access (vs 34% in non-project areas)
-Improved health and reduced water-related disease
-Greater household stability and food security
-More time for women and girls to focus on education and livelihoods

Plastic that is collected today becomes creativity, culture, and community expression tomorrow. We are proud to support initiatives that encourage environmental responsibility while nurturing young creativity.

Let’s keep those bottle caps coming. Every piece of plastic diverted from our environment makes a difference.
