Globally there is a crisis with youth unemployment however South Africa's youths are saddled with broader socioeconomic challenges. With this in mind, Community Worx - SA piloted a Community Career Day, the aim is to bring resources and information to local communities. Research has shown the lack of growth in the economy, misalignment of available skills and the requirements of the labour market and a lack of information are some of the driving factors. Therefore this year we focused on the Grade 9s of Florida High School in Ravensmead. Focusing on subject choices, this is the cornerstone of aligning education with the human capital needs of the country. Collaborating with Ravensmead Library to illustrate resource muisy resources are the most immediate and effective way to bridge the exclusion gap. The library showcased career-related material and resources available as well as access to digital spaces. We would also like to thank the institutions that provided materials and of course our lovely project management team Grandille, Exlira and Lucian. We welcome any future collaborations to build this into an event that can service especially underpriviledged communities.

HELP US DO MORE! We want to reach more schools and help more underprivileged children to have the best chance with the right tools in their educational journey. You can donate stationery goods, and sponsor a stationery box for R240 or as little as R20 a month - every bit helps us do more. We also welcome corporate sponsors or partnerships. A better South Africa starts with improved communities. πŸ§‘πŸ’›

See the journey of our Stationery Box Project from behind the scenes! Our ambition for 2023 is way bigger and we would love to help more schools. If you know of any school with learners in need - please tag them. We will have an application process in March- April for schools who wish to partake in the project. As a self-funded NPO, we do have limited resources and as much as we would love to help every school and child we simply do not have the capacity at the moment. Therefore if you as an individual or corporate company would like to get involved and sponsor our project - please do contact us. You can sponsor a stationery box for a child or contribute as little as R20 a month to our project. We accept stationery donations throughout the year! Help us do more, and reach more children in need of the most basic of stationery to have equal access to opportunities!πŸ§‘πŸ’›

Earlier this month Community Worx - SA delivered stationery boxes to Northway Primary School in Ravensmead (Cape Town). They became the very first recipients of the Stationery Box project that was launched in 2022! We are super excited and hope the small contribution helps kids in need to fulfil their full potential. Not being able to learn or keep up due to a lack of adequate stationery is a real problem and one that should not keep any child behind or be left out of a full learning experience. Even with limited resources, we hope to make a continuous impact and therefore would also like to thank all those who donated stationery as well as those who supported our ongoing fundraising - you are the real-life heroes in your communities and together we can truly build a better South Africa! πŸ˜€πŸ§‘πŸ’›

Community Worx launched its CareerGo programme earlier this year πŸ‘. The programme focuses on skills development, entrepreneurship and career development resources. The first such opportunity came with a collaboration with a private company working in academia and consultancy, the data collection project ran from October to November 2022. The feedback received from both the private partner and the participants has been positively encouraging and we look forward to creating many similar opportunities and contributing towards driving sustainable change in communities. πŸ’›πŸ§‘

Join Community Worx - SA as we aim to provide the most basic of school stationery to children in need. As insignificant as a pencil, pen, calculator or mathematical set may seem to many, it becomes the difference between a child from a disadvantaged environment's ability to be equipped and having equal opportunity - now and in the future. When these social gaps influence active education participation it leads to the child not attending school for periods or indefinite, which causes even more significant socioeconomic disparities. We invite any donations to help us to equip students for the 2023 academic year and for it to be a year of growth, advancement and successπŸ’›πŸ§‘
