HANDS OF THE FUTURE EDUCARE
WALLACEDENE, KRAAIFONTEIN

Through potholes, tiny roads and hundreds of informal settlement houses, we went on a treasure hunt to find a gem. This gem exist because of one man's dream and vision, to not be blind to the need of the community any longer.

This Educare accommodates kids from 3 months to
6 years old, getting them ready for big school one day. A strong presence of Moral Values and education, lingered in the air like a fragrance, when we arrived at this Establishment.

Their name fits them perfectly. From the Principal to every single Teacher, Admin and Kitchen Staff, they leave no stone unturned to educate the adults of tomorrow.

They face enormous financial challenges. Getting no support from the government and not receiving all the schoolfunds every month, leave them no choice but to dig deep into their own pockets sometimes.

The Principal of this school don't only bring change by Education, but also reach out to the community. Everybody knows there is an open door policy when life gets tough. Either with a bowl of porridge in the morning to feed the body, or counceling, to feed the mind and soul.

All the kids get breakfast and lunch. They stay open 6:00 - 18:00 to accommodate parents with their working hours.

This Educare can bring more difference to the community, if they can get more help. Some structual finishes still need to happen. Their daily needs are a constant reminder how much must still fall in place for them, to become the shining star they are meant to be.

Don't ignore the vision and mission that comes from a pure and giving heart. Please contact the Principal Gerald Claims at Cell Nr 078 001 4896, email adress: [email protected], or visit their FB Page, if you know how to help

Angels were able to donate winter clothes, kitchenware and educational toys, and we most definitely didn't forget about the special treat for the kids.

WOLSELEY- DISASTER MANAGEMENT
CHRIS LOUBSER

Just over a week ago, the Witzenberg Region(Tulbagh, Wolseley, Ceres, Hamlet, Nudel) took massive hits during the unapologetic storm. The path of destruction is catastrophic and heartbreaking to see.

One man refused to ignore the devestation it caused among the farmworkers, that suffered the most.
Chris Loubser, a born and bred resident of Wolseley, made a desperate plea on Social Media to help him.... help them.

Some farmworkers lost everything, and others suffered huge losses. The immediate need for food, mattresses, blankets and clothes couldn't be ignored.

Blind trust in humanity, a leap of faith, and a decent dose of courage, fueled him to take action. Up till now, Chris and his team of volunteers were able to help more than 600 people on 20 farms around Wolseley, and a farm outside Rawsonville. On a daily basis they try to keep up, by checking in and distributing the essentials.

We accompanied them on one of their daily runs to the farms, and the aftermath of the storm left us speechless. Visible signs of the water damage are everywhere. Some of the flood victims sleep in a barn, and others are accommodated by friends or family.

This situation won't change soon, and helping them now is the short term solution. These people lost everything and must somehow start over again.

Please contact Chris Loubser at Cell Nr: 083 377 6614, if you feel the same desire in your heart to help, like Chris did. They still need 200 mattresses, blankets, food and water. Continued support is crucial. The bank details for financial donations is attached. To them.... a little is a lot.

Never underestimate the power of one voice...... because one voice is enough, if your desire to make a difference, exceeds every possible thought of failing in your mission, that you are Called for.

Angels in Action were able to contribute men's, women's & children's winter clothes, blankets, Oats and Mieliepap towards this desperate cause.

HOUSE BETHANY NIGHT SHELTER - PAARL

This year the winter didn't wait for an invite, it barged through the front door. The past few days the
Western Cape was crippled by heavy storms.

Everywhere you look, everywhere you go, you see a path of destruction. The need for everything, is everywhere.

24 June at 18:30, House Bethany Night Shelter in Paarl, will be hosting a Winter Drive at The River Valley Church in Paarl, where they will provide a set of winter clothes, a warm meal and a hot shower to the homeless. Their heart is that surrounding churches will take hands with them, on what is a very important institution to them.

For more information about the Winter Drive, you can contact Madeleine at Cell Nr 084 582 3348

Angels were able to donate winter clothes.

There are several Disaster Management Drop-off Points in the Western Cape, where you can donate whatever is within your financial ability.

DIE OMGEE NETWERK - BRACKENFELL

André le Roux who is the Main Man at the Charity Organisation, Die Omgee Netwerk, just stays one of our favourite humans. Just when you think that he is already doing it all for the Community....... yet another initiative surface.

André and Dalleen are well-known and adored in the Brackenfell Community, therefore people tend to reach out to them for help.

It all started with a request, to find a hospital bed for a patient. This was the beginning of an unexpected, unplanned and unselfish service, to anyone who needs it. Soon there was another request for a wheelchair.
A few phone calls and a post on their FB Page, and people generously started to donate.

He lends out whatever they have in stock, on a temporary basis. Cancer patients and people who had hip or knee operations, are mostly the ones who reach out. This good deed, saves a lot of money for someone who already face huge medical bills.

The request for wheel chairs, walking frames and commodes seems to be the most. Although André have moon boots, crutches and reaching tools in stock too, he would like to expand with more Orthopaedic equipment.

Should anyone want to donate to this worthy cause, you can contact André at 082 449 1071. You can follow Die Omgee Netwerk on Facebook, to stay updated with the amazing work that they do.

Angels was able to donate a wheelchair and commode.

SAREPTA AGS OLD AGE HOME - KUILS RIVER

This was a long overdue visit, after our previous visit almost four years ago.

This Old Age Home left a lasting impression on us, as the Management and Staff have their jobs cut out for them, when dealing with the different dinamics they face every day with the residents.

137 Residents which consist of Dementia, Alzheimer, Bipolar, Schizophrenia and Sassa, are spending the last chapters of their lives at this Home.

Despite not having enough staff and carers, it was noticeable with how much love and patience the staff treat the residents.

While we took a walk through this facility, we didn't see any of the staff walk.... they run...... in a hurry to someone who needs their attention.... but you can almost hear how they put on the brakes, to make a quick stop for a friendly chat, when passing by a 'tannie' or 'omie' on their way to where ever they are needed.

Sadly most of these residents are forgotten and lonely. An empty space than can only be filled by family.

We were delighted to see that while we were there, a team of hairdressers arrived to treat the residents to a haircut, wash and blowdry. This is a weekly highlite to the residents.

They get minimal financial support from the government, and rely on the Sassa income of the residents, fundraisers and the goodwill of the community. Toiletries is as per usual an on-going need

We received a very special donation from a very special Organization, that we knew will have to go to very special people. A knitted fiddle cloth that wears like a sleeve, with buttons, keys, pieces of material, ribbons, etc. This fiddle cloth brings comfort to those who need to keep their hands busy. We decided this will be perfect for the Dementia and Alzheimer residents at this Home.

The Management and Staff are so overworked because of being understaffed, that they don't have the time to do fun stuff with the residents. They hope to find volunteers who can spend time with residents. Either with games, puzzles or reading to them.

If our visit grabbed your heart, and you have an hour to spare, you can contact Vanessa or Elizabeth at
Tel: 021 906 0800

Angels were able to donate winter clothes, bedding, kitchenware and the fiddle cloths.

THE HAVEN NIGHT SHELTER - KRAAIFONTEIN

This time our Outreach took us just around the corner.....

The staff at The Haven Night Shelter in Kraaifontein, gave us a serene welcome. Their soft eyes and soft hearts reflect in their Vision and Mission for this Shelter.

* To make sure no person sleeps outside.

* To give back the client's long-forgotten-dignity.

* To prepare the client and their families to
hopefully reunite some day.

* Integrating the client back into society, to live a life
to proud of.

Listening to the passion in the voices of the staff, about every success story so far, and what they still want to achieve, makes you want to jump in and join the team.

98 Clients stay at this Shelter. Substance abuse and domestic violence, are mostly the reasons they end up at the Shelter. Regular drug tests are done, and there's a zero tolerance rule for bringing drugs onto the premises. Accommodation at the shelter gets terminated if someone is caught.

There's a Social Worker on-site every day, and Host Mothers are working in shifts, to make sure the clients are taken care of 24/7.

The clients are encouraged to look for a job and those who's unemployed, are kept busy with garden, kitchen and other duties.

Although The Haven Head Office supports them, they must organise their own fundraising, should they have any spesific goals in mind. For now, they aim to paint and renovate the kitchen.

Visiting them, was a devine appointment. This Outreach proved to us once again, that no matter what, we will meet the right people, at the right time.

Angels donated clothes, kitchenware, chairs and other essentials.

You can contact Zodwa at Tel: 021 987 1967 if you want to visit them...... just around the corner.....

THE DAY WHEN THE ANGELS.....MET THEIR OWN ANGELS

This is a feel-good-story that must be shared.

It started out as another day going on an Outreach. As with every other Outreach, a lot of preparation, logistics and planning take place, to make sure the Outreach goes smooth sailing. Careful calculations are made to allow extra time for the uncertain, when we go on the road. The size of the donation determine how many vehicles are needed to accommodate the Angels who can go with, and to transport the donations. By now, all of the Angels know the drill.

But this day took a sudden unexpected turn on us. A flat tyre stopped us right in our tracks. Imagine three purple Angels standing next to the road staring at the flat tire.... speechless(the speechless part doesn't happen often🙃). The one says, "I don't know how to change a tyre", another one says " My dad showed me how, but I can't remember".

While we're brainstorming a possible Plan B, a nice lady who was walking her dog, stopped and offered to get her husband to help us. By the time her husband arrived, another gentleman offered his helped too, and out of the blue, another man stopped to help. A phonecall to the Night Shelter where we were going to, explaining why we'll be late, brought some relief when they assured us that there's no rush.

A moment of vulnerability to us, changed into amazement and so much appreciation, that so many people took the time to reach out to us.

The right personalities that surrounded us, soothed our brief moment of panic, with small talk, some jokes and changing the tyre quickly and effortlessly. The one gentleman even offered to take us to his house so he can check the tyre pressure to make sure we are good to go.

We did exchange names, but in that moment, it didn't stick, we were a bit zoned out, and regret not remembering their names. We did asked permission for a photo and a hug to show our gratitude. They made it possible for us to finish our mission, and still visit the Night Shelter that we were on our way to.

We will never forget this day, where a lady and three gentleman didn't pass us by. We could've been on a roadtrip Outreach, driving much faster. We could've been out of cellphone range or a quiet road, but God was good once again.

We are seriously considering getting some lessons on how to change a tyre💪

HUIS VAN HEERDE CHILDRENS HOME - MOORREESBURG

A roadtrip to the Angels, is equal to breathing. We always look forward to putting the car in 5th gear and step on the gas. No traffic lights or traffic congestions, just the open road. Usually this time together, are full of laughter, jokes, brainstormings, mini-meetings and catching up on each other's lives.

It was time for a roadtrip again, so we made our way to Huis van Heerde Childrens Home in Moorreesburg. This is a sunny place, not because of the heat Moorreesburg is known for, but because of all the friendly faces we saw everywhere, the moment we drove through the gates.

The privilege to grow up in a stable home where a child feels safe, might sometimes be taken for granted by the majority of people. For strangers to give security to someone elses child, require very special people. We were fortunate enough to meet some of them

Huis van Heerde accomodates 70 children that were put in their care by the government. Lack of finances, abuse and neglect are mostly the reasons these kids were removed. There are three houses for the boys, and three houses for girls, with two carers per house, who make sure all the needs of the kids are attended to.

Huis van Heerde goes above and beyond, to provide everything the kids need. A Play Therapist and Occupational Therapist visit the Home every week. Career guidance, psychometric assessments, driver's licenses, mentorship programmes as well as bursaries are made available to the kids. How amazing is that?!

The government gives minimal financial support, therefore Huis van Heerde must make their own plans to bring relief to the huge financial shortfall. Fundraisers like Golf Days, Auctions and Ladies Mornings are an annual institution. An initiative where they involve churches to 'adopt' one of the houses, is very succesful so far. The congregation will team up and make sure each child in the house they 'adopted', gets pocket money, and is reated with their birtdays and christmas

We never get used to seeing how strangers carry enough love in their heart to share every single day

Angels donated clothes and shoes

Next time when you plan a road trip, take the N7 to Moorreesburg. You can follow their FB Page, visit their website or contact Fredalaine at 022 433 1042

UBUNTU HOUSE - GOODWOOD

If there is one thing that makes us super excited, it's when we can go visit the little ones.

We found our way to Ubuntu House in two vehicles midst very heavy morning traffic. With a few "I told you we should've taken the other road", and missing the green light several times, having to wait next to the road for the others to catch up... we finally reached our destination with 5 minutes to spare.

Our reward for our teeth grinding journey, was tiny arms waiting for us to pick them up for a cuddle.

The Ubuntu Baby Home in Goodwood, is the temporary place of safety for children from newborn to three years old. They stay there untill they are adopted. Lack of finances, substance abuse and unwanted pregnancies, are mostly the reasons these children end up at Ubuntu.

Six trained day shift Carers and six night shift Carers make sure all the little ones are looked after 24/7. A Social Worker visits them once a month, and the Clinic comes out to Ubuntu to give the necessary vaccinations. Certain Doctors and Pediatricians even give their services for free where needed. The government is giving minimal financial support, therefore Ubunto must do their own fundraising to prevent a shortfall.

It was difficult to leave, we wanted to take all the babies home with us, but they are smothered with so much love and affection from every single lady at Ubuntu, we knew we'll just have to settle for another visit.

Angels were able to donate clothes, nappies, bedding and a carpet for the playroom.

You contact Michelle at Tel: 021 592 0610 if you know how to help.

BADISA - TULBAGH

With a happy sigh, we pulled our purple shirts over our heads. It was time.... time for our first Outreach of 2026, and to top it all....we're going on a roooooooaaad triiiiiiip!!!!

Badisa has been operational in Tulbagh for more or less 30 years. Their main aim is Child Protection, but they also focus on Community Development. Badisa rely on schools, hospitals and the community to help keep them informed of any child abuse or neglect. They travel far and wide around the greater areas of Tulbagh, to visit schools and farms when help is needed.

Substance abuse by the parents, is the main problem why kids are removed from their homes, and put in temporary Foster Care. The Social Workers try their best to help get the parents rehabilitated, but if it's not successful, the kids are placed in Children Homes or permanent Foster Care.

Five ladies run this Branch in Tulbagh, of which two of them are Social Workers. When we stepped into their offices, we sensed a calm assurance like sweet parfume lingering in the air. These ladies take their jobs seriously. To them, Social Work is a matter of the heart. Sometimes they face very sad situations in the field, and their way of coping with it, is supporting each other within the team.

They get basic financial support from the government, and their biggest need is to be able to have a Child Psychologist or a Play Therapist as part of their team, but finances don't allow it.

Angels donated summer clothes

The ladies at Badisa Tulbagh, are literally going the extra mile for the kids in their community. You can contact Caroline at Tel: 023 230 0193, or visit them on Instagram.
