HOLIDAY CLUB 2026 | LIVE THE WORD

What an unforgettable week!

Over the past four days, we had the incredible privilege of welcoming 220 children and young people to Holiday Club. From energetic worship and exciting games to meaningful small groups and Bible teaching, every moment reminded us of God’s faithfulness.

None of this would have been possible without our amazing team of 20–25 volunteers who served with joy, excellence, and hearts full of love. Thank you for giving your time, energy, and gifts to invest in the next generation.

Throughout the week, we journeyed through our theme, LIVE THE WORD, learning that God’s Word is not just something we read—it is something we are called to live.

📖 Day 1: We discovered that God’s Word is our foundation and shows us who He is.
🚶 Day 2: We learned what it means to walk with Jesus every day and trust Him in our daily lives.
💡 Day 3: We were challenged to let our light shine by loving and serving others.
✨ Day 4: We were encouraged to boldly live out our faith and respond to God’s call.

The highlight of the week came as we shared the Gospel and invited the children and young people to respond to Jesus. With grateful hearts, we celebrate that more than 25 young people gave their lives to Christ! 🙌

There is no greater joy than seeing lives transformed by the love of Jesus.

To every child, parent, volunteer, donor, and friend who made this week possible—thank you. Your prayers, generosity, and service have made an eternal impact.

As Psalm 119 reminds us:
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

The week may be over, but we believe this is only the beginning of what God is doing in the lives of these young people.

Exploring Nature at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens

Recently, 33 learners from our Lighthouse After-School Tutoring and Homework Club had the incredible opportunity to visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for an educational and fun-filled day in nature.

For many of the children, this was their very first visit to a botanical garden. They learned about South Africa’s rich plant diversity, including fascinating succulents that have built-in water storage systems and can thrive with very little water. The learners also discovered the importance of indigenous and medicinal plants and how these plants contribute to both our environment and our communities.

Surrounded by breathtaking greenery and the beauty of Table Mountain, the children enjoyed exploring, learning, and experiencing nature in a way that inspired curiosity and wonder. By the end of the day, many of them did not want to leave and were already asking, “When can we do this again?”

This outing was a tremendous success and a reminder of how powerful educational experiences outside the classroom can be. We are grateful for the opportunity to expose our learners to new environments, broaden their horizons, and create lasting memories.

We are once again incredibly grateful to have Coach and Trainer Sharleen from SH Consulting investing in and equipping our staff team. 🙌

Your passion for literacy and numeracy development is truly inspiring and contagious! Through your training, our team was empowered with practical tools to support children’s learning and development in meaningful ways.

Together we learned how to:

✨ Value the power of talk time with children and practice engaging in positive conversations
✨ Understand that play is one of the most important ways children learn
✨ Share and read stories in ways that engage children and maximise learning
✨ Use songs and rhymes to support early childhood development
✨ Encourage numeracy skills through counting, conversations, fun activities, songs, and storytelling

In addition, our team was activated with creative ideas on how to design crafts and learning activities using simple, cost-free materials.

Thank you, Sharleen, for sowing into our team and helping us better serve the children in our community. 🌱

It is always inspiring to witness passion in action. One of our dedicated tutors continues to pour into the lives of our learners with excellence, commitment, and heart.

The impact is tangible — and the demand is growing. Parents in our community are eager to enroll their children in our programme, trusting Lighthouse to support and shape their educational journey.

As the need increases, so does the opportunity.
