Our very first Parent Support Group meeting has come and gone, and what a meaningful start it was šŸ’™

We’re so grateful to the parents who joined us, shared their stories, and created a space filled with understanding, strength, and support. Raising children with severe to profound intellectual disabilities comes with unique challenges—but no one has to walk this journey alone.

Here’s to building a community that uplifts, listens, and grows together. 🌱

Many thanks to N. Morrison from Bergzicht Training & Development for presenting the Basic Life Support course to Courage to Care’s professional nurses - Sr Africa, Staff Nurse Ndimande, and Staff Nurse Williams - who attended the training at Bergzicht Training & Development in Stellenbosch. It was an engaging, insightful, and truly eye-opening experience.

A morning of tiny treasures and big smiles 🐣

Children have a way of finding magic in the simplest things—and reminding us to do the same. Every little discovery today felt like a celebration, seen through the most honest and joyful eyes.

A special throwback to the opening of Ward 78 at Lentegeur Hospital šŸ’™
This journey was one of care, commitment, and purpose — and this moment captures it all. Watching the children enter the ward for the first time was something we won’t forget.

For children with severe to profound intellectual disabilities, this newly renovated space is more than just a ward… it’s a place of comfort, dignity, and somewhere they can truly call home.

Today our hearts are full as we celebrate the grand opening of Ward 78 šŸ’™

This is more than just a renovated space on the grounds of Lentegeur Hospital in Mitchells Plain… it’s a place of hope, love, and dignity for children with severe to profound intellectual disabilities. A place where they will be cared for, supported, and truly seen.

At Courage to Care, our commitment to these children and their families remains at the heart of everything we do. Being part of this journey means standing in continuous support, compassion, and care for those who need it most.

We are deeply grateful to our donors, Gift of the Givers and the Department of Health Khayelitsha Eastern Sub-Structure. Your generosity has made this dream a reality and will touch so many lives.

Together, we are creating a space where every child matters, every moment counts, and hope lives on ✨

What an unforgettable day at Monkey Town Venue! šŸŒž From the easy booking (with a lovely discount!), friendly helpful staff to the ramps for our wheelchairs users, every detail reminded us that everyone belongs—and that made our learners feel truly included. Our learners had an absolute blast swimming in the pools—splashing, laughing, and soaking up the sunshine. Their happiness was the highlight of the day, and those memories will stay with us forever.

A heartfelt thank you to Joe Adams and his son, Denzil Adams, for driving us safely to Monkey Town at no cost. Your generosity and willingness to take time out of your busy schedules to accommodate us means the world. šŸššŸ’›

Special thanks also to Darren Davidson from RV Traders for gifting every child in our care with a lovely gift bag filled with snacks—your kindness added even more joy to the day. šŸŽāœØ

Yesterday proved that when a community shows up with open hands and open hearts, every challenge feels lighter and every celebration shines brighter šŸ’œ
