🚨🚨 PRESIDENT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA FACES FRESH PRESSURE AFTER CONSTITUTIONAL COURT RE-OPENS PHALA PHALA IMPEACHMENT PROCESS🚨🚨

South Africa’s Constitutional Court has ruled that Parliament acted unlawfully when it blocked further impeachment proceedings against President Cyril Ramaphosa over the controversial Phala Phala farm scandal. The judgment, handed down on Friday, 8 May 2026, effectively reopens the possibility of an impeachment inquiry linked to the 2020 theft of foreign currency from Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala game farm in Limpopo.

The Constitutional Court found that the National Assembly’s 2022 decision to reject the Section 89 Independent Panel report was inconsistent with the Constitution. The panel, chaired by former Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo, had previously found there was prima facie evidence suggesting Ramaphosa may have violated sections of the Constitution and may have had a case to answer regarding serious misconduct.

The case was brought before the apex court by the Economic Freedom Fighters and supported by the African Transformation Movement, who argued that Parliament failed in its constitutional duty to hold the President accountable. The court agreed that lawmakers acted irrationally by shutting down the impeachment process without allowing a full inquiry to continue.

The matter will now return to Parliament, which has been ordered to reconsider the Section 89 panel report and decide whether a formal impeachment inquiry should proceed. However, the Constitutional Court did not rule on Ramaphosa’s guilt or innocence regarding the Phala Phala scandal itself. Instead, the judgment focused on whether Parliament followed the Constitution correctly in handling the matter.

The Phala Phala controversy stems from the 2020 theft of a large amount of US dollars allegedly hidden at Ramaphosa’s private game farm. Former State Security Agency boss Arthur Fraser alleged that as much as $4 million had been concealed on the property, while Ramaphosa maintained that approximately $580,000 from a buffalo sale was stolen and denied any wrongdoing.

Today’s ruling is expected to intensify political pressure on Ramaphosa and could have major implications for both Parliament and the Government of National Unity moving forward.

Good Evening 😊

Do not forget to fill up your cars tanks before midnight in the midst of the petrol increase effective tonight at 12am.⛽📈

Key Fuel Price Changes (Effective 6 May 2026):

Petrol (93 & 95 ULP): Increase of R3.27 per litre.

Diesel (0.05% & 0.005%): Increase of R6.19 per litre.

Illuminating Paraffin: Increase of R4.22 per litre.

LPGas: Increase of R5.07 per kg.

Key Factors Driving the Hike:

International Oil Prices: Average Brent crude oil prices rose, leading to higher international product prices.

Weak Rand: The Rand depreciated against the US Dollar, contributing to higher import costs.

Slate Levy: A major adjustment to the slate levy, which added R1.23 to fuel prices.

Despite the government maintaining some temporary relief measures—such as a reduced fuel levy—these increases are set to significantly impact transportation and logistics costs, which may fuel general inflation.
