First project: Project Jesse Skippers

Our daughter Jesse Skippers needed a new hearing-aid because at her last hearing test (2012) we were advised that it was not worth repairing her current hearing-aid. The last time we bought hearing-aids was 12 years ago on 26 October 2000 in the year that Jesse started Primary School and that pair cost R10,020.00. Needless to say that r

egular repairs were made over these 12 years. The initial quote this year (2012) was R34,000.00 per hearing-aid but the audiologist said that it was not advisable to buy just one in that model as they are work efficiently as a pair. We confirmed the price of the model below that and here was a quote from The Ear Institute in Claremont:
Phonak Naida S5 UP = R27,000.00ea. After receiving a very generous discounted price from The Ear Institute, we purchased a hearing-aid for Jesse's right ear because she stopped wearing the left hearing-aid years ago and audiologists confirmed that the left one will not be significantly beneficial to her hearing. She basically does not hear anything in the left ear but just feels the vibrations of sound waves so amplified sound in the left ear always frustrated Jesse even when that hearing-aid was calibrated efficiently. Jesse's hearing-aid was the first project of The Jesse Foundation. We will continue to lend a helping hand to those with disabilities and those in need. In the meantime we will continue selling muffins on order and at various fundraising events. We will post events on this page.
