๐Ÿš” Street robberies near record lows in Camps Bay ๐Ÿ“‰
Three years ago, Camps Bay averaged one street mugging a week โ€” opportunistic theft of phones and wallets that kept many residents away from the beachfront altogether. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

The latest SAPS figures tell a different story ๐Ÿ‘‡
โœ… Just 19 incidents in 2025/6
โœ… A 64% drop
โœ… The beachfront feels safe again ๐Ÿ–๏ธ
That makes it the 3rd-lowest non-residential robbery rate in the 21 years records are available. ๐Ÿ“Š

This is a result of:
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Sustained pressure from our Camps Bay CID security teams
๐Ÿค A social development partnership with Ignisive, helping move people off the street and into shelter, employment, and a fresh start.

We're not done yet. Public safety remains our top priority, and we're committed to pushing these numbers even lower. ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ FITNESS AND TACTICAL SHOOTING ASSESSMENT

Readiness demands strength, discipline and precision.

Members of the CBCID Safety and Security team recently completed a rigorous fitness and tactical shooting assessment, testing the physical conditioning, fi***rm competency and operational discipline required in the field.

Regular assessments ensure our team remains prepared to respond safely, responsibly and effectively when our community needs them most.

Prepared. Capable. Ready to serve.

๐Ÿ’ฅCamps Bay burglaries now at lowest levels for more than 20 years๐Ÿ’ฅ

Weโ€™ve been delving into the archives of published SAPS crime statistics โ€” corroborated by the Camps Bay CIDโ€™s independently gathered statistics for recent years โ€” and they show that residential robberies and burglaries are now at their lowest levels in more than two decades. ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ“‰ In the peak crime year of 2007/08, a residential robbery or burglary occurred in Camps Bay almost every day. In 2025/26, that was down to an average of just4 per month โ€” an 85% drop.

Other crime categories our residents care about most are also at, or near, 20-year lows, including:

๐Ÿš— Vehicle-related theft
๐Ÿšถ Street robbery
๐Ÿ’Š Drug-related crime

None of this happens by accident โ€” it reflects years of sustained effort by community initiatives including CBW, CBCSI and now the Camps Bay CID.

๐Ÿ“Š Long-term crime trend charts โ€” including sources, caveats and detailed notes โ€” are now available on the Camps Bay CID website: https://campsbaycid.org/communications/long-term-crime-trends/

๐Ÿ’ฅ Theft Out of MV Suspects ARRESTED ๐Ÿ’ฅ

On Thursday afternoon info was shared on TMNP TBOM Alerts group regarding suspects who had just broken into a tourists car on Signal Hill. Within an hour the suspects vehicle had been identified by Camps Bay CID, Platform 1, & LPRUG.

Thanks to CBCIDs substantial investment in new camera technology at Kloof Nek, CBCID received an LPR alert that the suspects had returned to Signal Hill again the next day.

Management from TBK Watch and CBCID used personal unmarked vehicles to monitor the suspects. TMNP Rangers & SEAM were put on standby. The suspects were observed forcing open the lock of a car at Lions Head and stealing a mountain bike. An impromptu plan was devised and the suspects whom have a lengthy criminal record for the same offence, were boxed in before they could flee and Cape Town Central SAPS arrested them.

The victim from Mossel Bay was located via Facebook due to branding on their car and while initially dismayed was overjoyed to have their bike returned! ๐Ÿ’ฅ ๐Ÿ’ฅ

๐Ÿšจ CAMPS BAY IS NOT A MARKET.

๐ŸŸ๐ŸŒŠ Keeping our beaches safe for our furry friends too! ๐Ÿพโค๏ธ

Over the past few days, weโ€™ve seen fish washing up along parts of our shoreline. One of our CBCID Foot Patrol officers noticed the issue and immediately alerted our teams, with our Ignisive Eco-Squad quickly responding and getting to work clearing the affected areas.

We know how much our furry friends love exploring the beach โ€” and, of course, how tempting a little โ€œbeach snackโ€ can be! ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿพ Unfortunately, these fish can be harmful if eaten, so our teams are doing everything they can to stay on top of it and keep our beaches as safe as possible.

Itโ€™s a great example of our teams looking out for the little things that make a big difference โ€” from keeping our beaches clean to helping protect the pets we all love. ๐Ÿ’™

A big thank you to our Foot Patrol officers for keeping their eyes open and to our Ignisive Eco-Squad for always being ready to lend a hand. ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒŠ

And to all our dog walkers โ€” please keep a close eye on your four-legged companions and help us by keeping them away from any fish that have washed ashore. ๐Ÿ•โค๏ธ

Together, we can keep Camps Bay beautiful, cared for and safe for everyone โ€” paws included! ๐Ÿพ๐ŸŒŠ

Keeping Camps Bay Safe & Compliant ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

In light of continued complaints from various stakeholders, Camps Bay CID is conducting daily operations to address illegal roving traders operating along the beachfront and harassing beachgoers.

Our teams are working alongside Law Enforcement and SAPS to ensure that the Cityโ€™s By-Laws are respected and enforced. Traders are issued warnings where appropriate, and where non-compliance continues, items are impounded.

Despite attempts to frustrate Law Enforcement โ€” including hiding canvas paintings in the sand โ€” our teams remain persistent and committed to ensuring that the beachfront remains safe, orderly and enjoyable for everyone.

We will continue with these operations and take the necessary steps to ensure By-Law compliance and a safer Camps Bay for all. ๐Ÿ’™
