This image speaks to the harsh reality faced by refugees who are forced to wait at borders in search of safety and hope. Refugees are not criminals or intruders—they are people fleeing war, violence, persecution, poverty, and human rights abuses. Under international law, every refugee has the right to seek asylum and the right to protection from being forcibly returned to danger (the principle of non-refoulement). They are entitled to humane treatment, fair asylum procedures, and respect for their dignity regardless of nationality, race, or legal status.
Women and children, who make up a large portion of displaced populations, have the right to special protection, access to healthcare, education, and family unity. Refugees also have the right to basic necessities such as food, shelter, clean water, and medical care while their cases are being processed. Borders, walls, and policies should never erase humanity. Protecting refugees is not an act of generosity—it is a legal, moral, and shared global responsibility.
