IMAGINE | The Stuart Hawley Rainbow Foundation was founded by Robert and Karenin Hawley on their wedding day in March 2012, along with the support and compassion of their family and friends. They realised that one exceptional person would not be able to make their special day; so in honour of Stuart, they decided to ask their friends and family to make a donation to the foundation in lieu of weddi
ng gifts. Having first-hand experience of what it means to have a child who suffers with Cerebral Palsy, they wanted to make a difference – not only for those who suffer from the disorder but also for those who care for adults and children with Cerebral Palsy. Understanding that people who suffer from Cerebral Palsy face many challenges in life, over and above the physical disabilities, Robert and Karenin hope that through this foundation some of these challenges will be overcome. One of the biggest ambitions they have in mind is to develop a school and respite care facility for those with Cerebral Palsy so that 1) they may have a proper education and daily stimulation on their own terms and 2) they would have a safe and familiar place to stay, where they would be properly cared for when their families needed a break from the 24/7 care that they normally provide. Through fundraising and donations, it is also hoped, that IMAGINE will be able to help other establishments who support Cerebral Palsy sufferers, as most of these organisations rely purely on donor funds.
