Kopanang Community Trust Kopanang opened its doors in April 2001. A safe place for Women. We are a registered NPO.

Today there are over 50 women on site at Kopanang and 8 at its sister-project, Mpuamalanga. They come together to create artworks and products of beauty, and share faith and community. Kopanang products are original in their design, vibrant in color, African in expression. More than that, they are beautiful, tactile expressions of hope and women's empowerment. In our Kopanang community we gather to create a culture of sustainability and life affirming services for those affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa's townships. What we do

Nine women have been killed in Ekurhuleni in recent weeks. One of them, Dineo Motapane, was found in Kwa-Thema, a community that almost half of the women at Kopanang call home.

We remember:
Busisiwe Mahlangu
Itumeleng Kekana
Nomfesane Mjobo
Gracious Nkomo
Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo
Dineo Motapane
Jabulile Ntimba

We also remember the two women whose names have not yet been made public.
We stand with every family mourning a loved one. We stand with all the daughters, mothers, sisters, friends and communities carrying this unbearable loss.

At Kopanang, women work side by side, build friendships and create livelihoods. It is also a space where women can talk openly about their experiences, look out for one another and share practical ways to stay safe. At a time like this, these spaces are essential.

Women should not have to live in fear. Yet fear is the reality many of our women now carry every day.

Please help us keep this sisterhood strong. Support Kopanang through an in-kind donation, a financial contribution, a sales opportunity or any resource that can help our women continue gathering, earning and moving forward together, unafraid.
In honor of her. In solidarity with every woman.
