Over 15,000 people are affected. Farmers like Mwanasiti Ali and Saidi Mohammed have watched their fields turn barren. With rice no longer viable, many have turned to fishingβ€”but marine ecosystems are under pressure and incomes continue to fall.

πŸ“’ Applications still open: Reporting Climate Change in Africa Workshop

The Reporting Climate Change in Africa project aims to build the field of climate journalism across the continent. This initiative supports the development of journalism and environmental civil society in Africa, creating opportunities for media professionals, organisations, and NGOs seeking a stronger voice in public sphere.

African voices have been excluded from the global conversations around climate change and the just transitions, and there is scant awareness of climate change solutions appropriate to African realities. The continent's choices of partners and technologies remain contingent on external drivers; stakeholders lack the tools for making proactive choices around partnerships for the climate and environment initiatives.

This workshop offers journalists and media scholars in Kenya a unique opportunity to advance their climate change reporting skills and contribute to reshaping the climate narrative in Africa.
