🏔️ HISTORY, HIKING, AND NEW FRIENDS: A GANTOUWPAS ADVENTURE! 🥾

What an incredible morning on the trail! Today, our Cubs joined forces with the 1st Onrus Pack for an unforgettable adventure at the historic Gantouwpas Wagon Tracks. 🛤️✨

The mission was clear: trace the paths of the early pioneers, find the historic cannons, and master our woodcraft skills by marking and following trail signs through the mountains. 🪵🧭 It was amazing to see the Cubs from both groups working together, sharing the trail, and learning about the deep ruts carved into the rock by ox-wagons centuries ago. 🐂🚜

There’s nothing like the fresh mountain air to bring out the best in our Scouts, plenty of teamwork, lots of laughter, and some tired but happy explorers by the time we finished at noon! ☀️

A huge thank you to the 1st Onrus Pack for joining us. It’s always a pleasure to strengthen our Scouting bonds and share the trail with friends. 🤝⚜️

🏕️ ADVENTURE AWAITS: FIRST CLASS CAMP! 🏕️

Huge congratulations to two of our Scouts who are heading out this weekend to tackle their First Class Camp! ⚜️🎒

This is a major milestone in their Scouting journey, where they’ll be putting all their hard-earned skills to the test, from pioneering and knot-tying to camp craft and outdoor survival. It’s a weekend of hard work, independence, and making memories in the great outdoors.

We are so proud of the dedication you’ve shown in your progress towards this rank. Go out there, trust your training, keep your spirits high, and most importantly, have an absolute blast! 🌲🔥

🔥 A NIGHT UNDER THE STARS: DISTRICT CAMPFIRE! 🔥

What an incredible evening at the District Campfire! There is truly nothing quite like the sound of Scouts, Cubs and Meerkats singing in unison, the flickering light of the fire, and the roar of laughter during the skits. 🎶🎭
It was wonderful to see so many families gather together at Monte Vista to celebrate our Scouting traditions. From classic songs to the shared warmth of hot chocolate, we reminded ourselves exactly why we love being part of this movement, the friendship, the tradition, and the joy of keeping the Scouting spirit alive. 🌌✨

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, brought their chairs, and brought their best "campfire voices." Moments like these are what Scouting is all about! ⚜️☕

🐾 Meerkats: For our youngest explorers (ages 5–7).

Ever wondered what happens when you mix a room full of energetic Cubs with a giant pile of mismatched shoes? 👟💨 Total chaos and a whole lot of laughs! Our latest Safari Scramble game put their speed and memory to the test, turns out, finding your own sneaker in a mountain of shoes is a real scouting skill! Check out the frantic finish in the video below!

What an action-packed night at the hall! ⚜️

Our latest meeting was a whirlwind of milestones and creativity across all our branches. We started with a special "Burrowing Up" ceremony as one of our Meerkats officially made the leap into the Cub Pack, welcome to the next stage of your journey! 🐾

The Meerkats and Cubs then joined forces for a joint arts and crafts session. Akela was the very lucky recipient of three beautiful handmade cards, thank you for the wonderful surprises! 🎨💌

The celebrations continued as we said a bittersweet "goodgoing" to a Cub moving up to the Scout Troop, followed by the proud moment of seeing another young Scout officially invested into the worldwide Scouting family. 🌍

To wrap up the evening, our Patrol Leaders (PLs) and Assistant Patrol Leaders (APLs) took charge! They ran a dedicated training meeting to help prepare our junior Scouts for the Upton Shield Competition taking place this Sunday. It was fantastic to see our youth leaders stepping up to mentor the next generation. 🛡️💪

🌿 Adventure on the Mountain! 🌿

Last weekend, our Cubs headed up to Kloof Corner for a fantastic mini hike as part of the City Nature Challenge 2026! 🥾⛰️

It was a wonderful morning of exploration and citizen science, and we were thrilled to be joined by our friends from 1st Blaauwberg Cubs. Together, our young "Wayfinders" spotted everything from local flora to interesting insects, helping to put our beautiful Cape Town biodiversity on the map! 📸🐍🌸

A huge thank you to all the Cubs, Parents and Scouters who came out to explore. It’s always better when we’re scouting together!

And 2025 comes to an end.

This year has been busy and adventurous, and out of all my names, Danielle, Danni, Mom, Akela has become the most-used!

This name led me to my biggest challenge yet, planning and running a Cub Camp at Hawequas this past weekend. With 30 eager Cubs, we packed the days with adventures.

While the activities were fun, the absolute highlight was the unplanned excitement of chasing away the uninvited baboons! The Cubs got a thrilling show while the adults were on patrol!

I was completely exhausted by Sunday, but as we sat down and heard the Cubs reflect on what they were grateful for during the Cubs Own, especially the first-time campers who were so proud of sleeping away from home in tents and shelters they built, the exhaustion just melted away. That bright light of excitement in their eyes is everything!

And now for the official news: I have successfully passed the Cub Camping Course! I am licensed and ready for many more camps!

To my amazing team of adult volunteers: Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are the backbone of these incredible weekends.
