URBAN RUINS PROJECTS NPO – WHAT A BUSY AND BLESSED WEEK!
What a week it has been at Urban Ruins! From little learners discovering new things to feeding communities, supporting families, and creating opportunities, our team has certainly been keeping busy!
ECD – LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
Our little stars focused on learning their colours, practising counting, and understanding the importance of standing in line. Every day brings a new opportunity to grow, learn, and develop!
And, of course, we cannot forget the special lunches! 🥕🥬🍳 From vegetable days featuring spinach, cabbage, and carrots to simple yet delicious egg sandwiches, our little ones enjoyed a variety of meals.
We are teaching them about colours, counting, and patience. Before long, they’ll be counting how many times the teacher says, “Please stand in line!”
FEEDING SCHEME – SERVING OUR COMMUNITIES
With the wonderful assistance of East Rand Helping Souls, Helping Hands Essentials, Rysky Foundation, and In2Foods, our feeding scheme successfully reached TWO different communities this week!
Every meal served reminds us that when organisations work together, more people can be reached, more stomachs can be filled, and more hope can be restored.
50+ FOOD HAMPERS DISTRIBUTED!
At least 50 food hampers were distributed to help individuals and families in need. Behind every hamper is a family, a story, and a reminder that kindness still exists in our communities.
THREE PEOPLE FOUND EMPLOYMENT!
Now THIS is something worth celebrating!
Three people found employment this week, bringing new opportunities, renewed hope, and the possibility of a brighter future.
Because the goal isn’t only to help people survive today, but also to help them build a better tomorrow!
SCRATCH & GRAB PREPARATIONS & FUN RUN MARKETING
While our volunteers were hard at work preparing for the next Scratch & Grab, the call centre team and Clayton were busy marketing the upcoming Fun Run!
At this point, we are convinced that Clayton doesn’t have a normal working week. He has 47 hours in a day, three extra hands, and a secret energy drink nobody knows about!
Between projects, events, phone calls, and community needs, we might have to organise a Scratch & Grab just to win the team a few hours of sleep!
CARE THAT GOES BEYOND THE BASICS
Amid all the activity, Clayton also made sure our beloved Dorothy was happy, cared for, and comfortable.
On top of everything else, he assisted an 82-year-old woman with planning her late husband’s funeral and helped another community member organise his wife’s funeral.
Because community work isn’t only about food parcels, events, or donations. Sometimes, it’s about being there for people during their most difficult moments, offering a helping hand, and reminding them that they are not alone.
These are the things that don’t always make it onto a poster, but they make a world of difference to the people receiving that support.
A WEEK FULL OF PURPOSE
From little learners and feeding schemes to food hampers, employment opportunities, event preparations, and compassionate support for grieving families, Urban Ruins has certainly had a full week!
A massive thank you to everyone who continues to support the work, contribute their time, donate resources, and stand alongside us.
And to Clayton and the team: please remember to eat, drink water, and occasionally sit down! We know the community needs us, but we cannot run on coffee, kindness, and pure determination forever!
Together, we are doing more than providing assistance. We are building hope, restoring dignity, and showing our communities that nobody has to face life’s challenges alone.
May God continue to bless Urban Ruins Projects NPO, our partners, our volunteers, and every life we have the privilege of touching.
