The Patron and Founder of the Maria Thamaga Foundation, Her Worship Maria Thamaga, would like to take this momentous opportunity to extend heartfelt congratulations to Jacob Thamaga, Secretary of the Foundation, on being conferred with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Linguistics from the University of the Western Cape.

This remarkable achievement is not only a personal milestone for Dr Thamaga, but also a proud moment for the Maria Thamaga Foundation, the Thamaga family, the community of Blouberg, Limpopo Province and the nation at large. His accomplishment stands as a powerful testament to the value of dedication, perseverance, and the transformative power of education.

Dr Thamaga is truly leading by example. As a Foundation, we take education very seriously, and we are confident that he will continue to give back meaningfully to communities through his work and commitment. We believe this distinguished qualification will open even greater doors for him as he continues to inspire and uplift others.

Notably, this is the first PhD in his entire family and only the second in his village, which is an extraordinary feat that underscores the magnitude of his accomplishment and serves as motivation for many aspiring scholars.

Once again, congratulations to Dr Jacob Thamaga on this exceptional achievement๐Ÿ‘ ๐ŸŽˆ

The Maria Thamaga Foundation was honoured to attend and support the Motsepeโ€™s 3rd U/15 Annual Top 8 Football Tournament, held at Motsepe Sports Ground on 31 January โ€“ 1 February 2026.

The tournament was proudly organised by a young leader, Malokela Motsepe, and brought together eight teams from various parts of the Blouberg Local Municipality. It was also attended by Mr. Mapunya, Ward Councillor for BLM Ward 7.

Congratulations to the medalists:
๐Ÿฅ‡ Speed Point
๐Ÿฅˆ Young Bank
๐Ÿฅ‰ Skepe

We applaud this powerful initiative that unites young boys through sport, keeping them engaged, focused, and away from substance abuse. We believe some of these players are future stars who will go on to represent big teams across the country.

The Foundation will return to assist with several challenges identified and continue supporting the growth and development of these young athletes.
Well done to all teams, organisers, and supporters

Happy Birthday Mme Maria Thamaga & Mr. Alpheus Thamaga! ๐ŸŽ‰

The Maria Thamaga Foundation would like to take this momentous opportunity to wish a heartfelt Happy Birthday to our esteemed founder, Mme Maria Thamaga, and her husband, Mr. Alpheus Thamaga, who both celebrate their birthdays today.

This yearโ€™s celebration is particularly special, coming just weeks after Mme Thamaga officially launched the Foundation and hosted a successful Top 16 Charity Tournament โ€” one of her flagship initiatives dedicated to giving back to the community.

Mme Maria Thamaga remains a beacon of hope and transformation. Her life journey is a powerful testament to resilience, passion, and purpose. Despite facing early challenges in accessing education, she pursued ABET and later furthered her studies through various institutions of higher learning โ€” inspiring countless others to follow in her footsteps.

She is currently serving her second term in the ANC Limpopo, as well as playing a significant role in the ANC Womenโ€™s League in the province. Most notably, she is the longest-serving councillor and currently serves as the Honourable Mayor, with a remarkable track record of service to her community. Her unwavering commitment to public service has earned her recognition from SALGA and other continental organisations for exemplary leadership.

We honour and celebrate Mme Maria Thamaga for her selfless service and dedication to uplifting lives across the municipality and Limpopo at large. We also extend our appreciation to her husband, Mr. Alpheus Thamaga, for his continued support and partnership throughout the years.

Happy Birthday to both of you! May your day be filled with joy, and may you be blessed with many more years of good health, happiness, and impactful service.

With gratitude and admiration,
The Maria Thamaga Foundation
