NOTICE OF A PUBLIC MEETING.

The SICK & TIRED will hold a public meeting to consult all the unemployed people in our community about a peaceful march for jobs to the local and district municipalities.

Date: Wednesday, 01 May, 2024.
Time: 17h00.
Venue: Boitumelong Taxi Rank.

Unemployed people in our community who are sick and tired of being unemployed are invited to join us for a public consultative meeting.

Notice of a march by unemployed people.

The Socialist Institute Cascading Knowledge & Training In Revolutionary Economic Deeds will on Friday, 03 May, 2024 embark on a peaceful march to the offices of the municipality to submit 2 (two) memoranda of demands to the Lekwa-Teemane Local and the Dr. Ruth S. Mompati District municipalities.

The contents of the said memoranda will include the demands that the Councils of our Local and District Municipalities each adopt the issue of unemployment as a standing item on the agenda of their respective council meetings; and that each establish permanent administrative units that would take responsibility for researching the issue of unemployment, maintain comprehensive databases of unemployed people, build partnerships with all relevant stakeholders, attract investment into our areas, develop local business, devise strategies to create jobs and to plan, source funds for and implement skills training and employment creation programmes for the benefit of all unemployed people.

The decision to ask these of the local and district municipalities is informed by the view that our organisation holds that the issue of unemployment in our communities is a ticking time bomb, and that it must be given all necessary attention and priority to.

Our local and district municipalities must no longer sit back and relax and do nothing but must take proactive approaches to help find solutions to this imminent crisis of unemployment before it explodes

To this effect the SICK & TIRED will hold a public meeting on workers day on Wednesday, 01 May, 2024, at 17h00 at the Boitumelong Taxi Rank. Unemployed members of the community who are sick and tired of being unemployment are invited to join us to help organise the march.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE!

On saturday, 06 April 2024, the Minister of Employment and Labour, Mr Thulas Nxesi, launched a R23 billion Labour Activation Programme (LAP) that seeks to integrate unemployed people into the labour market.

The LAP will focus on the following areas:

1. Partnerships with various stakeholders of the public & private sectors to create jobs.
2. Training of unemployed people.
3. Supporting companies in distress.
4. New enterprise development.

The Labour Activation Programme was launched in the Gauteng province and other provinces will be following in the coming weeks and months.

In order to ensure that unemployed people in Bloemhof are not left out but get every opportunity to participate and benefit from this LAP, our organisation, SICK & TIRED, will be taking the initiative to compile a comprehensive 'Unemployed Peoples Register' in preparation for the launch of the LAP in the North West Province. We will also be holding a series of public meetings to formulate proposals for skills training and job creation programmes for consideration by companies operating in our area and the local and district municipalities and the provincial government departments.

So move with us, make sure that your name appears on our 'Unemployed Peoples Register' and come help us formulate skills training and job creation proposals.

INVITATION TO REGISTER FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT'S FOOD PARCEL PROGRAMME.

Over this weekend, the SICK & TIRED will be finalising the compilation of a list of unemployed people who want to benefit from the department of social development's food parcel programme.

We are currently standing at 109 potential beneficiaries on our list that we will be submitting on monday the 18th of March, 2024, for assessment by the social development office in Bloemhof.

The said food parcels will start to be delivered during the month of April to those who qualify, and only 150 people will be considered, as per the social development office in Bloemhof.

If any unemployed person would like to be in put on our list, the person can inbox us their full names, residential address and contact numbers before monday and we will do the rest.

CANCELLATION OF THE MEETING BETWEEN UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE AND THE MAYOR.

We, the sick & tired, regret to inform the unemployed people of Boitumelong, Bloemhof that the Office of the Mayor of the Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality has unfortunately cancelled our meeting that was planned for today, 13 March 2024. The Mayor will not see us!

We had made the appointment to meet with the Mayor following a request we had made to the Municipal Manager asking for the expansion of the EPWP.

In our request we had asked the municipal administration to cause the expansion of the EPWP to create more posts for more participants.

We had made this request in light of the commitment made by the acting Premier of the Northwest Province, Hon. Nono Dumile Maloyi, who in his 2024 State of the Province Address said 15 000 more EPWP posts would be created this year in the province.

In response to our request for additional posts, the Municipal Manager said only 36 EPWP posts would be opened in Lekwa-Teemane in the year 2024.

Needless to say, we were shocked by this - that out of 15 000 EPWP posts in the province, Lekwa-Teemane would only open 36 posts... out of 15 000!

We then made an appointment with the Mayor's office to discuss this, amongst other issues pertaining to the recruitment of EPWP participants in our Municipality. The confirmation of the time and venue of the meeting was supposed to happen yesterday after the appointment was made last week wednesday.

But unfortunately, the Mayor will no longer see us, our appointment is cancelled, as per communication from the Honourable Mayors office.

But we will continue engaging the administration of the municipality and the office of the Mayor, and the provincial government.

CALL FOR QUESTIONS AND SUGGESTIONS OF POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS FOR US TO PUT TO THE MAYOR OF THE LEKWA-TEEMANE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY AT OUR MEETING WITH HIM TOMORROW.

The Socialist Institute Cascading Knowledge & Training In Revolutionary Economic Deeds has managed to secure a meeting with the Office of the Mayor of the Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality.

The said meeting will be held tomorrow the 13th of March, 2024 at a time and place to be determined by the Office of the Mayor.

Although the meeting is planned to have an open agenda it will however confine its business to issues pertaining to the extremely high unemployment rates in the Lekwa-Teemane Local Municipality and the measures that the local government, in partnership with the private sector, has in place to create jobs for all the unemployed here.

We are therefore hereby putting out a public call for questions and suggestions that our organisation should put to the Mayor and his office at the meeting. Any such questions and suggestions should be confined to issues of unemployment and possible solutions.

We, the SICK & TIRED, are hopeful that the planned meeting will prove to be fruitful and that it will pave a way forward to address the unemployment rates of crisis proportions that we are experiencing in our municipality.

We will accept any such relevant questions and suggestions that are put out on the comments on this post and in our inbox. We hope that all the unemployed will heed this call and voice out their experiences, struggles, and volunteer possible solutions.
