*PRESS RELEASE | 12 AUGUST 2026*

The UNASA UFS Chapter Executive Committee convened an emergency EXCO meeting on 7 August 2026.

Following a unanimous Motion of No Confidence, Mr Monde Buthu has been dismissed as President, effective immediately.

Ms Neo Leope has been elected as Institutional President for the remainder of the term.

UNASA UFS remains committed to ethical leadership, accountability, and good governance.

On 15 May, the United Nations Association of South Africa UFS Chapter in collaboration with Standard bank hosted a Financial Literacy Masterclass for students.

Many UFS students have lost funding due to a range of circumstances. To address this, UNASA’s Treasurer, alongside representatives from Standard Bank and the current SRC Treasurer, led an insightful session. They shared practical strategies for managing personal finances and walked students through funding options available through Standard Bank and the UFS website that students can apply for.

The goal of the session was to help students reduce financial stress and develop habits for managing their money more effectively. Sponsored by Power Play.

The United Nations Association of South Africa UFS Chapter in collaboration with had their warm heart, warm clothes campaign. A initiative thats comes from the need identified to address the pressing concerns of the students currently facing financial difficulties and subsequently, lack of warm clothing.

The initiative will continue tomorrow for those who couldn’t come donate, we wish to thank everyone who came and donated today.
