The Good News Club is a NPC founded in 2021 by Langenhoven Park residents who wanted to keep our suburb clean, safe, and beautiful.

We welcome everyone who lives or works here to join us in making a difference. It’s not our job, but it is our suburb!

A heartfelt thank you to the Bainsvlei Public Library team. 💚

This week, The Good News Club was privileged to attend a special tea hosted in appreciation of our partnership. It was a moving celebration of service and community.

Since beginning our journey at the library in 2020, The Good News Club has maintained the library gardens and used the library as a base to support our work in keeping Langenhovenpark clean and beautiful.

As our organisation has grown, we’ve recently moved our maintenance team to Anchor of Hope, which has strengthened our ability to serve. This does mean stepping back from maintaining the library’s gardens for now, but we hope to return when additional funding allows.

The library’s gesture of gratitude touched us all. The programme included heartfelt speeches, certificates of appreciation, gifts, prayer, worship music and wonderful fellowship over tea.

We are especially grateful that our two long-serving team members, Ishmail and Isaack, were recognised for their faithful service over the past five years. Seeing them honoured, along with receiving certificates from Ms N. L. Damane on behalf of Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality Library and Information Services, made the occasion even more meaningful. 🙏

To the entire Bainsvlei Library team, thank you for your kindness, generosity and encouragement. Your appreciation means more than words can express.

The Good News Club remains committed to serving Langenhovenpark. Through our partnership with Anchor of Hope, we will continue maintaining public parks and buildings, as well as supporting other community projects.

Together, we are making a difference, one act of service at a time. 🌿

Du Plessis Road is looking a little happier. 🌸

The flower beds have had a good tidy-up, with the weeds cleared and a bit of love put back into these little pockets of green.

It’s amazing what a little attention can do. One small improvement at a time, we’re keeping Langenhovenpark looking like the suburb we all love. 💚

Sometimes it's the little things that change how we experience a place.
A bench that can be used again. A park that feels welcoming. A piece of litter picked up before it blows down the street.

On their own, they're easy to overlook. Together, they shape how we see and treat our neighbourhood.
This bench has been repaired by TGNC because we believe the small things matter. They're often the first signs that someone cares, and that encourages others to do the same.

Every improvement, no matter how small, is another step towards the Langenhovenpark we all want to live in. 💚

A clean suburb isn't just the responsibility of those who maintain it. It's the responsibility of everyone who lives in it. 💚

Unfortunately, household refuse is still being dumped where it doesn't belong, creating unnecessary litter, attracting animals, and making more work for the teams working hard to keep Langenhovenpark clean.

Before putting a bag down, ask yourself: "Is this where it belongs?"

Let's all be part of the solution.
✔️ Use the correct refuse collection points.
✔️ Put your refuse out only on collection day.
✔️ Never dump household waste in public spaces.

Small choices make a big difference.
Because it's not our job... but it is our suburb.

The Good News Club has, for some time, subcontracted Anchor of Hope to carry out specific routine cleaning, maintenance, and beautification work in Langenhovenpark. We are excited to share that this partnership is now taking an important step forward.

TGNC has approved a monthly agreement under which Anchor of Hope will exclusively carry out all cleaning, maintenance, and beautification work across Langenhovenpark, fully funded by The Good News Club.

Why the change? Simply put, Anchor of Hope has more feet on the ground, the right equipment, and a larger team ready to take on the work Langenhovenpark requires. By working in this way, TGNC can streamline expenses while ensuring that services are delivered more efficiently, consistently, and sustainably over the long term.

Why not pay Anchor of Hope directly? Anchor of Hope requires an accountable, hands-on partner within the area to provide the financial certainty that monthly payments will be made, as they also need to plan ahead. TGNC fulfils this role by providing oversight, giving direction, reporting back to the community, and raising the funds required to pay Anchor of Hope each month.

Our familiar faces, Isak and Ishmael, will also transition to the Anchor of Hope team, where they will receive further training and continue the excellent work they have already been doing in Langenhovenpark.

Importantly, our mission remains unchanged.
Anchor of Hope's work in Langenhovenpark is fully funded by TGNC, and TGNC continues to be fully funded by the businesses and residents of Langenhovenpark. Every contribution therefore remains invested directly in keeping our neighbourhood clean, well maintained, and moving forward.

Same mission. More hands. Greater capacity. A stronger future for Langenhovenpark.

Anchor of Hope

Winter work looks a little different... but the work never stops.🌳

As the colder weather slows the grass down, it gives us the opportunity to focus on other important maintenance projects around Langenhovenpark.
Anchor of Hope, proudly funded by The Good News Club, has been busy with tree felling to keep our public spaces safe, tidy, and ready for the seasons ahead.

Community care isn't seasonal. It simply changes with the weather.
