Foster parents play a vital role in giving vulnerable children stability, care, guidance, and hope during difficult times. Many children enter foster care due to circumstances beyond their control and need supportive adults who can help them feel secure and valued.

Foster care provides temporary care for children who need protection while ensuring they have the opportunity to grow in a nurturing environment. South African law allows suitable adults who are willing and able to provide a positive home environment to become foster parents.

You may not be able to help every child, but you could change the future of one.

The truth is, you don't need to wait until a situation becomes critical before asking for help.

You can contact Childline if a child is experiencing bullying, abuse, neglect, anxiety, depression, family conflict, online exploitation, or any situation where their wellbeing may be at risk. Parents, caregivers, teachers, family members, and community members can also reach out when they are concerned about a child.

Childline's trained counsellors provide support, crisis intervention, referrals, and child protection assistance. The national helpline is available to help children and adults who are worried about a child's safety or wellbeing.

That is why Childline Free State works to protect children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence while promoting children's rights and wellbeing. Through counselling, advocacy, education, and child protection services, vulnerable children can access the support they need to thrive.
