Why temporary safe care matters.

When vulnerable children are removed from unsafe environments, they need immediate, secure placement while the Children’s Court Investigation is completed. Usually lasting 90 to 120 days, Temporary Safe Care is a court-ordered placement with a fully screened caregiver. This critical intervention provides vital stability when a child’s world is turned upside down.

We rely heavily on screened caregivers who can offer a safe living environment and are committed to supporting traumatised children during transitional periods.

Does your organisation advocate for child protection? Let’s connect in the comments on how we can better support these vulnerable transitions.

You are warriors of hope, providing safe spaces and unconditional love when it is needed most. Your strength builds a better, safer South Africa for our youth.

Healing child trauma changes lives.

"He looks forward to his sessions, and there is a notable improvement in behaviour, and emotionally, he is really doing well."

Receiving emails like this from parents reminds us exactly why we do this work. Healing takes time, patience, and specialised support, but our dedicated social workers are there to guide families every step of the way. Seeing a child regain their joy and emotional stability is the greatest reward.

Drop a ❤️ in the comments to show your support for our incredible social workers.

Reach children before they reach us. ✋✨

Every child deserves to know that they have a network of people dedicated to keeping them safe. The "My Safety Network" hand is a simple, visual tool we use to help children identify 5 trusted adults they can turn to if they are feeling scared, unsafe, or are experiencing abuse.

A child's safety network can include:

• Mom & Dad
• Grandparents
• A Teacher
• SAPS / Police Officers
• A Social Worker / Childline

Your voice matters: If you suspect a child is being abused, neglected, or exploited, please do not stay silent. Reporting abuse isn't just about stepping in—it's about connecting a child back to a network of safety and healing.

Let's work together to protect our children. Memorise the number, share the tool, and save a life.

FROM A TENT ON THE SIDEWALK TO A SAFE HOME: A Story of Hope 🏡❤️

A few weeks ago, an ordinary day took a life-changing turn thanks to a vigilant member of our community. A concerned passer-by noticed two women and a young girl living in a temporary tent pitched on a public sidewalk. Instead of just walking past, they chose to see the human beings behind the struggle and reached out to us for help.

Our team immediately stepped in to intervene. Living on the streets exposes families—especially young children—to unimaginable vulnerabilities, harsh weather, and safety risks.

Thanks to the swift collaboration of our social workers and community network, we didn't just provide a temporary band-aid; we secured a sustainable solution. We are overjoyed to share that this family has now been assisted with safe, proper housing. Best of all, the young girl is thriving in a secure, stable, and nurturing environment where she can simply focus on being a child.

This is the power of a community that cares. One phone call changed the entire trajectory of a little girl’s life. Thank you to the hero who flagged this, and to everyone who supports our mission to protect the vulnerable. There truly are no unwanted children—just unfound families and undiscovered solutions. 🌟

"It is in your hands to make our world a better one for all, especially the poor, vulnerable and marginalised." — Nelson Mandela 🇿🇦✨

Today, on 18 July, we join South Africa and the entire world in celebrating Nelson Mandela International Day. But why do we celebrate it each year, and where did it start?

🗓️ The History: In November 2009, the United Nations officially declared Madiba’s birthday (18 July) as an international day dedicated to global peace, freedom, and humanitarian service. It was a tribute to a man who sacrificed his freedom to fight apartheid, promote reconciliation, and build a democratic South Africa.

⏱️ Why the "67 Minutes"?
For decades, the global rallying cry has been to give 67 minutes of our time to community service. Why 67? Because Nelson Mandela spent 67 years of his life actively fighting for social justice, human rights, and equality. The movement asks us to give just one minute for every year he served humanity.

Today, the message has evolved into a sustainable global movement: "It is still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity." It’s a reminder that we don't have to be global icons to make a difference. True change starts in our own backyards, by looking out for the most vulnerable among us.

How are you spending your Mandela Day today? Let us know in the comments! 👇
