Community Action Project (CAP) Successfully Implemented at Ntumediseng High School

Ntumediseng High School | 21 August 2026

The Voice NPO, through the Masifunde Changemakers Network, successfully implemented a Community Action Project (CAP) at Ntumediseng High School, bringing together learners, educators, community members and key stakeholders in a collective effort to promote a cleaner, safer and healthier school environment.

The campaign was proudly led by Eco-Champions who demonstrated strong leadership and commitment to environmental responsibility. Through hands-on participation, the Eco-Champions mobilised fellow learners and contributed to cleaning areas affected by litter and environmental pollution. Their involvement highlighted the importance of empowering young people to become active agents of positive change within their schools and communities.

The cleaning awareness campaign formed part of The Voice NPO's continued commitment to environmental health, learner development and community participation. The initiative created an opportunity for learners to understand the connection between a clean environment, health and overall well-being, while encouraging a culture of responsibility and pride in their surroundings.

The successful CAP at Ntumediseng High School stands as one of the remarkable footprints left by The Voice NPO,demonstrating what can be achieved when young people, schools, community organisations and stakeholders work together towards a common goal.

Program: Learn4life/L4L
Theme: Drugs & Alcohol (continues)

In ongoing conversations with grade 9 learners about drugs and alcohol, many learners courageously shared personal stories of how alcohol had impacted their lives negatively. Others reflected on how substance abuse had affected family members and friends.

These discussions encouraged learners to re-evaluate their future aspirations and career paths, and to recognize how choices and behavior influenced by drugs and alcohol can have lasting effects on their health and overall future.

Learn4Life Programme

The Voice NPO, through the Learn4Life Programme, recently facilitated an engaging and thought-provoking session with Grade 11 learners under the topic "Drugs and Alcohol Abuse.

The session created a safe platform for learners to openly discuss the underlying reasons why many young people become involved in substance abuse. Among the key factors identified were peer pressure, poverty, the desire for material possessions, and the pursuit of popularity and social acceptance

Facilitators also guided learners through the devastating impact that drugs and alcohol can have on a young person's future, including poor academic performance, damaged relationships, mental and physical health challenges, risky behaviours, and limited career opportunities. Learners were encouraged to make informed decisions, resist negative influences, and prioritise their goals and well-being.

This discussion marks the beginning of an important conversation, with more subtopics on substance abuse prevention, decision-making, and life skills to be unpacked in upcoming sessions as we continue empowering learners to make positive choices for a brighter future.

Together, we are building resilient young leaders who choose hope, health, and purpose over substance abuse.
