Our main objective of Hearo is being. We want to overcome hearing loss,as a barrier to communication

Our main objectives at Hearo have been identified as the following:

1. to provide a professional and comprehensive service for the identification, surgical implantation and rehabilitation of people with hearing loss;

2. to provide counselling and information to patients for all hearing implants (Cochlear Implants, Passive Middle Ear Implants and Bone Anchored Hearing Devices, incl Vibrant Soun

d bridge)

3. to provide audiological assessments:
3.1.1 to provide medical and radiological assessments;
3.1.2 to provide Speech, Language and communication assessments;
3.1.3 to provide psychological assessment and support;
3.1.4 to provide surgery and implantation of implantable hearing solutions;
3.1.5 to provide activation and programming/mapping of implanted devices;
3.1.6 to provide rehabilitation to assure optimal utilisation of implanted devices;
3.1.7 to provide maintenance and management of the external sound processors and internal devices;
3.1.8 to provide counselling and supplying of additional assisted living/listening devices;
3.1.9 to provide invitations to support groups

4. to support government implantable hearing device programs in order to achieve our objectives.

The Universitas Provincial Hospital CI Unit in Bloemfontein provides vital support for hearing-impaired children, but limited resources hinder implant care, rehabilitation, and training.

‘’On 5 February 2025, my daughter, Nina, had her bone bridge cochlear implant at Zuid-Afrikaanse Hospital after two years of waiting. This incredible technology has enabled her to hear what she’s missed her whole life.

Despite challenges with her condition, Nina’s determination shines through in her chemical engineering studies at NWU Potch.
