Signals - Sign Language Association of the UFS

Signals - Sign Language Association of the UFS Signals is the official Sign Language association of the University of the Free State. Signals is open to anyone studying Sign Language or is a Deaf person

Signals is an association run by Sign Language students at the University of the Free State. It offers students the opportunity to become involved in rendering services to the Deaf and to create Deaf Awareness. This project is a wonderful way to become involved with, and give back to the community. Students attend sessions starting in February and ending in September, which is also Deaf Awareness

Month, of each year. Signals are all about helping Deaf people. There really is no feeling that compares to putting a smile on a Deaf person’s face. Our diversity depends on the diversity of the Deaf Community and also those who study Sign Language. Any individual regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, home languages, cultures, religion, or political affiliation can join Signals association. We cater for the Deaf and hearing by having interpreters. In Signals, absolutely no discrimination will be tolerated. It is expected of you to treat your fellow members, the sub-committee, management, Deaf Community, and the individuals you are visiting with the utmost respect. Diversity is more than just integration; it is a state of mind, where there is diversity, there are strength and beauty.
