We are still reflecting on the insights shared during our last Connect Circle session. Gaoreteleloe reminded us that the path for African female leaders is disproportionately difficult, but we don't have to walk it alone.She addressed the heavy work required to break systemic ceilings in Africa. She also dove deep into the "unfiltered" reality of leadership, specifically addressing two critical barriers:

1. Funding Scarcity: Navigating the lack of financial support for grassroots work.
2. Burnout: Managing the personal toll of high-stakes advocacy.

We are thrilled to introduce Soufia Galand, who brings her incredible wealth of experience to co-train:
Module 1: Defining Our Leadership: The Feminist Lens and
Module 2: The Roots of Our Movement: History and Ideology

Soufia is a feminist activist and researcher with over 15 years of experience in humanitarian and development contexts, including leadership roles with Oxfam in North Africa. She works on gender justice, unpaid care work, wellbeing, and feminist organizational change. She is a PhD candidate in humanitarian ethics, her research focuses on power and accountability in aid systems.

Soufia’s unique perspective on power dynamics and the history of African women’s movements will provide our participants with the foundational knowledge needed to lead with ethics and empathy.

Meet Maleke Dridi

We are honored to have Maleke Dridi joining us as a co-trainer for the SheAfrica Leadership Program! Maleke will be guiding our participants through both:

Module 1: Defining Our Leadership: The Feminist Lens and
Module 2: The Roots of Our Movement: History and Ideology

Maleke is a feminist MEAL and programme specialist with over 10 years of experience designing and managing regional programmes and grantmaking across North Africa. She specializes in feminist monitoring, learning and evaluation, participatory grantmaking, safeguarding, and movement-centred accountability. Her work is dedicated to supporting feminist and youth-led organizations in building sustainable impact.

We are proud to officially introduce the SheAfrica Leadership Program, launching this February 12th!

Our mission is clear: to equip emerging gender leaders and activists with the tools, resources, and networks they need to become influential forces for justice. This unique program is divided into two transformative stages:

🌱 Stage 1: Foundational Leadership & Feminist Principles. Before we build, we root. Participants will explore the core of gender activism and feminism, gaining a deep understanding of women’s rights specifically within the African context.
🚀 Stage 2: Mentorship for Non-Profit Leadership. Growth requires strategy. In this stage, our grassroots leaders will receive direct mentorship from experienced icons and non-profit experts to learn the practicalities of running a successful, high-impact organization.

By bridging the gap between theory and practice, we are ensuring that the SheAfrica Movement isn't just a moment, it's a sustainable future.

A massive thank you to Henrietta Foray for kicking off our Connect Circle Platform with such a profound session. This was far more than just a conversation, it was a masterclass in grassroots leadership and advocacy.
We dove deep into:
1. Legal Advocacy: Learning about the vital pro bono work Henrietta is doing through L.A.W.Y.E.R.S in Sierra Leone, from supporting women and girls to consulting on landmark bills like the Matrimonial Causes Act and the Prohibition of Early Child Marriages.
2. The Power of Narrative: Henrietta shared her journey as the founder of Embracing HERstory, an online platform dedicated to documenting and sharing the diverse journeys of women.
3. Grassroots Leadership Reality: She shared the honest challenges of leadership and her vision for what she hopes to gain and contribute to the SheAfrica Movement.
