Building a better city takes more than words—it takes action.

While many know BNAG for our community safety initiatives, that's only one part of our vision. Every day, we work behind the scenes to make our neighbourhoods cleaner, greener and more liveable for everyone.

From cleaning projects in the CBD to rolling out our recycling and waste collection initiative, we're doing everything we can to restore pride in our city. Every bag of litter collected, every street cleaned, every recyclable diverted from landfill and every partnership formed is another step towards a city we can all be proud to call home.

Not all the work we do is visible.

Many people judge community safety by what they see posted on social media, but the reality is that much of the work happens behind the scenes. For operational and safety reasons, and to protect the privacy of those involved in accordance with POPIA, many incidents, patrols and interventions are never shared publicly.

Every day, our dedicated security partners patrol our participating neighbourhoods, helping to keep our streets safer, responding to incidents, acting as a visible deterrent to crime, and working to combat drug-related activities. Their commitment often goes unnoticed, but it makes a real difference.

A sincere thank you to our valued BNAG partner, SENFORCE SECURITY AND CLEANING, for believing in our vision of building safer, stronger communities and for standing with us in making that vision a reality.

Joining BNAG's Separation at Source Recycling Programme is simple!

✅ Scan the QR code or click the link at the bottom to register online.
✅ Purchase your official BNAG recycling bags (R35 per roll of 20 bags).
✅ Separate your recyclables from your general waste and add it to your recycling bag. No need to sort them further.
✅ Place your recycling bags on your sidewalk on your scheduled collection day.
✅ We'll collect them weekly – at no additional collection cost!

What do we mean by R1.75 or R8.50 per bag?

BNAG supplies specially designated collection bags for each waste stream:
♻️ Recycling: R35 per roll (20 bags) = R1.75 per bag
🟡 General Waste: R170 per roll (20 bags) = R8.50 per bag
🟢 Garden Waste: R170 per roll (20 bags) = R8.50 per bag

There are no monthly subscription fees!!

Simply purchase the bags you need, use them for the correct waste stream, and we'll collect them from your sidewalk once a week on your scheduled collection day.

Our General Waste and Garden Waste services are available only to households and businesses participating in BNAG's Separation at Source Recycling Programme. Sponsored bakkie in need of TLC

BNAG is excited to announce that a bakkie has finally been sponsored to support our Fix Our City initiative and Keep Our City Clean community projects across Bloemfontein!

This vehicle will help us transport equipment and materials, collect litter and recycling, assist with pothole repairs, and respond more effectively to projects that improve the safety and condition of our neighbourhoods.

Before it can be fully utilised, the bakkie requires some repairs and TLC. We are looking for businesses, service providers and sponsors who can assist with mechanical repairs, servicing, tyres, bodywork, vehicle accessories, branding or any other support needed to get it road-ready.

Pothole repairs in Brandwag

A sincere thank you to the Bloemfontein Neighbourhood Association Group (BNAG) for assisting with pothole repairs in our area.

These repairs are made possible through the continued support and financial contributions of our loyal Brandwag Neighbourhood Association members. Every membership and donation helps us respond to practical issues, improve our streets, and contribute to a safer, better-maintained neighbourhood.

Community Infrastructure Repair at Nettleton Park, Brandwag🔨 👷🏽‍♂️

Today, members from the Brandwag Neighbourhood Association and the Arboretum Association independently undertook repair work on damaged perimeter fencing along Nettleton Park, adjacent to SANDF property.

BNAG acknowledges and supports this kind of constructive collaboration between neighbouring suburbs, where practical action is taken to address safety and infrastructure concerns.

Barbed wire supplied through BNA was used to reinforce vulnerable sections along the water channel boundary, helping to reduce unauthorised access and improve the protection of the area.

Key Outcomes:
- Restoration of damaged fencing along a critical boundary line
- Improved security along the water channel corridor
- Reduced risk of unauthorised access and related safety concerns
- Demonstrated cross-suburb cooperation in maintaining shared spaces
