ONE NEIGHBOURHOOD ASSOCIATION IS MAKING ITS VOICE HEARD AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT

UPNA Represents Our Community at the Mayor’s Meeting
The Universitas Parkwest Neighbourhood Association (UPNA) was at the "Glaspaleis" (Indaba Hall) recently to ensure our voices are heard at the highest level of local government.

Representing our community, Johan Coertzen addressed the Mayor and officials, making it clear that safety is the most critical factor for residents in Universitas and Parkwest.

What UPNA is Doing:
We aren't just waiting for help; we are actively improving safety through:

Enhanced Communication: Streamlining how safety info reaches you.

Strategic Integration: Aligning the efforts of all security role players to work as one.

Our Demands to the Municipality:
To make our neighbourhood truly safe, UPNA has called for:

Increased Enforcement: Active involvement from Traffic, Law Enforcement, and SAPS to tackle property damage, reckless driving, and public drinking.

A Metro Police Force: It is time for Bloemfontein/Mangaung to establish a dedicated Metro Police, similar to other major SA cities.

Night-Shift Focus: Urgent patrols and law enforcement action are needed between 23:30 and 05:00 to maintain law and order.

The Road Ahead
UPNA is ready to partner with the Mangaung Municipality, but this neighbourhood association has set a high bar. We expect service standards to rise in line with ISO9000 principles, where continuous improvement is the baseline—not the exception.

Together, we are fighting for a cleaner, safer, and better-managed neighbourhood!

Making our Neighbourhood Shine! / Ons Buurt Blink Weer!

A huge thank you to the UPNA Weekend Team for their incredible hard work over the past few days!

Our team has been busy making significant improvements in Wynand Mouton Park and the Bell Conservancy. In addition to the maintenance work, a massive amount of garbage was collected across a wide area in both Universitas and Parkwest.

A clean neighbourhood is a safe neighbourhood, and it’s all thanks to these dedicated efforts!

’n Groot dankie aan die UPNA-naweekspan vir julle ongelooflike harde werk die afgelope paar dae!

Die span was besig met groot verbeteringe in Wynand Mouton Park en die Bell-bewaringsarea. Behalwe vir die instandhouding, is daar ook tonne vullis oor ’n wye area in Universitas en Parkwest opgetel.

’n Skoon woonbuurt is ’n veilige woonbuurt, en dit is alles te danke aan hierdie toegewyde pogings!

Community Spirit in Action

A massive shout-out and a heartfelt THANK YOU to the incredible team at Raubex, the AfriForum Jeugtak, Amelia Dameskoshuis (Educata), and Veritas Manskoshuis! 👏👏👏

Our neighbourhood looks much better today, thanks to their hard work repairing the street at the corner of Kornalyn & Groenewoud Street.

The Impact:
16 patches completed.

18 potholes repaired.

9.09 Tons of material used!

This is a huge win for all the students living around Campus Key, Unilofts, and the surrounding townhouses. Navigating our way home just got a whole lot smoother (and safer for our tyres!).

It’s amazing what can be achieved when we work together. Thank you for investing in our community!

’n Groot en hartlike BAIE DANKIE aan die span van Raubex, AfriForum se Jeugtak, Amelia Dameskoshuis (Educata) en Veritas Manskoshuis!

Ons omgewing lyk sommer dadelik beter danksy julle harde werk met die herstel van die straat op die h/v Kornalyn- & Groenewoudstraat.

Die Resultate:
16 "patches" voltooi.

18 gate herstel.

9.09 Ton materiaal gebruik!

Dit maak ’n reuse verskil vir al die studente rondom Campus Key, Unilofts en die omliggende meenthuise.

Dis ongelooflik wat bereik kan word wanneer ons hande vat. Dankie dat julle in ons gemeenskap belê!
