JC has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma on 30 July 2022. With no history of cancer in the family, it was quite a shock for the family to learn of JC’s diagnoses. We were very fortunate that it hasn’t spread to his heart otherwise they would not have started chemotherapy. At this stage they have diagnosed him with stage 3 high risk Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and it has spread in all his lymph nodes,
lungs, liver and spleen. He has already started with chemo and we will only see if the chemo is working after a few more chemo sessions and a PET scan. He loves playing outside and loves his sports (rugby and soccer). He has the kindest heart and is always willing to help and to share. We as a family would do everything and anything to see him back to his old self, climbing in tree, play rugby at school and most of all just to see him happy and with a smile on his face. We have been able to stay pretty calm in front of JC and keep the mood as light as we can but having a 12-year-old boy crying out to make the pain stop is torture. Being begged to take the pain away, telling you he doesn't want to die has evoked feelings in us all that we have never felt. There are no words to describe feeling so helpless and seeing him in so much pain. I wish this upon no parent. No child at that age must worry or think about death, or what will the people say and think when his hair starts falling out. Our children are supposing to run wild and free of any bad thoughts. We have decided to start this fundraiser and help JC get back to his old self and to put a smile permanently back on his face. I am a single father and my sister is a single mother to 3 beautiful children, one of which has Autism, and she has without me having to ask, taken JC into her home to help take care of him while I work. The purpose of the fundraiser is to help JC with day-to-day care, supplements to strengthen his body, extra treatment, fresh food, vitamins and every now and then something to treat him and to get a smile on that face of his.
