🚨 WE ARE HIRING: TRAINEE INSPECTOR 🚨

At the SPCA, we operate under the core principle that the animal always comes first. We need someone who deeply understands the operational needs at a Society level, recognizes the unique responsibilities of our Non-Profit status, and is fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare.
🐾 Key Responsibilities & Duties
* Investigate & Action: Investigating public complaints (including anonymous ones) and taking swift, appropriate action.
* Emergencies & Rescues: Reacting immediately to animal emergencies and rescues, including handling after-hours stand-by duties as required.
* Pro-Active Inspections: Carrying out pro-active inspections at establishments where animals are housed, bred, or utilized (such as pet shops, farms, and breeding facilities).
* Education & Public Support: Educating members of the public on correct animal handling and providing assistance on animal-related issues.
* Legal Enforcement: Issuing written warnings and undertaking prosecutions in cases of deliberate abuse, neglect, or cruelty.
* Administration: Keeping all inspectorate-related paperwork, detailed factual reports, and case records completely up to date.

* Diplomacy & Media Awareness: Remaining fully aware that even the smallest issue has the potential to escalate in the media or public eye, requiring absolute discretion, tact, and diplomacy at all times.
* Public Representation: Acting as a compassionate, professional representative of the Society, treating every member of the public and our supporters with courtesy, empathy, and understanding.

* True Compassion: A deep-seated drive to treat all animals humanely and gently—both on and off duty—while ensuring your own animals at home are cared for correctly.
📋 Job Requirements & Qualifications
* Driver's Licence: Possession of a valid minimum Code B (08) driver’s licence.
* Qualifications: Minimum Matric
* Background Check: Strictly no criminal record. Current Police Clearance Certificate is of advantage. (Not older then 3 Months)
* Experience: Previous working experience with animals is highly preferred.
* Computer Literacy: Preferably computer literate to manage mandatory reporting.
* For Trainee Applicants: Willingness to complete a probationary period of no less than 6 consecutive months, Driver's License, PCC, Matric Certificate, pass the entrance examination based on the Operations Manual, pass the Inspectors course, successfully complete portfolio requirements, and meet the Animal Welfare Assistant (AWA) and Large Animal Euthanasia (LAE) training criteria.
💰 Remuneration/Salary will be discussed in person during the interview stage and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
