1.2

Age-appropriate HIV/AIDS education will form part of the curriculum and life-skills programme at Qhubimfundo Educare Centre for all learners.

This should include:

Providing accurate information on HIV/AIDS and developing life skills necessary for the prevention of HIV transmission.

1.2.2

Teaching learners basic first-aid principles from an early age, including safe ways of dealing with bleeding and injuries.

1.2.3

Creating awareness about the role of drugs, violence, sexual abuse, and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in the transmission of HIV/AIDS, while empowering learners to protect themselves in such situations.

1.2.4

Teaching learners how to treat people living with HIV/AIDS with respect, dignity, care, and understanding, while discouraging prejudice and discrimination.

2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF LEARNERS, EDUCATORS, STAFF, AND PARENTS

2.1

The code of conduct at Qhubimfundo Educare Centre will promote responsible behaviour and prohibit any behaviour that may place others at risk of HIV transmission.

2.2

Parents and guardians are encouraged to actively participate in HIV/AIDS awareness programmes and attend meetings organised by Qhubimfundo Educare Centre to gain knowledge and support the wellbeing of learners.

2.3

Educators and staff members have a responsibility to ensure that the rights, dignity, privacy, and wellbeing of all learners and staff are respected and protected at all times.

3. PREVENTION OF HIV TRANSMISSION DURING PLAY AND SPORT

3.1

Proper wound management and universal safety precautions must always be followed during play and sporting activities to reduce the risk of HIV transmission.

3.1.1

No learner, educator, or staff member may participate in contact play or sports activities if they have an open wound, sore, cut, graze, or skin lesion that is not properly covered.

3.1.2

If bleeding occurs during play or sports activities, the injured person must immediately be removed from the activity and treated safely.

3.1.3

The learner or staff member may only return to the activity once the wound has been properly cleaned and securely covered.

Any blood-stained clothing must be changed immediately to maintain hygiene and safety.

Title: Stakeholder Feedback on the PJ Party Event at Qhubimfundo Educare Centre

The PJ Party event hosted at Qhubimfundo Educare Centre was a joyful and memorable experience for all stakeholders, including learners, parents, staff, and community partners. The highlight of the event was the visit from the South African Police Service (SAPS) entertainment bunny, which brought excitement and energy to the day.

Learners expressed great happiness and enthusiasm throughout the event. Coming to school dressed in their pajamas made the day feel fun and different from their normal routine. The presence of the SAPS entertainment bunny created a lively atmosphere, as children interacted, danced, and took pictures. Activities such as games, storytelling, and snacks further added to their enjoyment.

Parents shared positive feedback and appreciated the effort made by the centre to organise such a unique and safe event. The involvement of SAPS also gave parents a sense of comfort and trust, knowing that community structures are supporting the development and happiness of their children. Many parents felt that the event helped boost their childrenโ€™s confidence and social interaction.

Staff members described the event as successful and rewarding. Although it required proper planning and coordination, it strengthened the relationship between educators, learners, and parents. The participation of SAPS also showed the importance of community partnerships in creating meaningful experiences for children.

Overall, the PJ Party event was a great success. It not only provided fun and entertainment but also strengthened relationships between all stakeholders. The inclusion of SAPS made the event more impactful, and stakeholders expressed interest in more collaborative events in the future.
