The Southern African Energy Efficiency Confederation SAEEC is a non profit industry body promoting energy and sustainability across Southern Africa The SAEE Confederation has members from nine countries.

SAEE Confederation is your source for information on the dynamic field of energy efficiency, utility deregulation, facility management, plant engineering, and environmental compliance. With a full array of information outreach programmes, from technical seminars, conferences and books to critical buyer-seller, networking tradeshows, job listings and certification programmes, the SAEE Confederation

and AEE offers a variety of information resource tools. As a growing membership organisation, the overall strength of the AEE is highlighted by a strong membership base of over 15 000 professionals and recognised certification programmes. The Association's network of 82 chapters regularly meets to discuss international and regional issues. The SAEE Confederation promotes and looks after the energy industry associated with Demand-Side Management (DSM) and Energy Efficiency. The SAEE Confederation aims to become the Association in Southern Africa that brings all energy stakeholders in the region together. The SAEE Confederation have already come a long way towards achieving its goals of consolidating energy efficiency stakeholders in the Southern African region. These countries are Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique and South Africa.

We are pleased to announce Angela Jean Tanoh, an energy and lighting professional, as one of the speakers at the AEE Africa Energy Conference 2026.

With close to two decades of experience in the built environment, Angela specialises in energy-efficient lighting across the commercial and industrial sectors, delivering projects for public and private sector clients across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Working alongside consulting engineers, architects, designers, and specifiers, she brings a practical, performance-driven approach to implementing lighting solutions that support improved energy efficiency and building performance.

Angela’s work has evolved to address the growing intersection between energy systems, safety, and regulatory compliance, with a particular focus on emerging requirements for emergency lighting and escape route systems.

Her practical approach focuses on identifying compliance gaps, managing operational risk, and supporting structured, phased approaches to implementation. Albert Williams of Honeyguide joins the AEE Africa Conference 2026, bringing more than two decades of experience in energy management, industrial energy systems, professional training, and technical advisory.

Albert has delivered more than 260 energy training courses to over 7,000 energy professionals across 86 countries and has conducted more than 300 energy audits globally. His contribution to the energy profession was recognised when he was named the AEE®️ 2025 International Energy Professional Developer of the Year.

As a leading contributor to global energy education, Albert has served as lead instructor and chief content creator for the Certified Industrial Energy Professional (CIEP™️) programme and has contributed to the development and delivery of internationally recognised programmes including CEM®️, CEA™️, and 50001CP™️.

He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Energy Management Handbook (10th Edition), the official reference guide for the CEM®️ programme, and author of the Industrial Energy Systems Handbook.

Albert holds 10 AEE®️ certifications and four UNIDO qualifications, with his expertise recognised through eight international energy engineering awards. His work spans more than 20 global organisations across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Reabetsoe Kgoedi joins the AEE Africa Conference 2026, bringing more than a decade of experience in energy management, sustainability, and decarbonisation across the automotive, property, and engineering sectors.

Reabetsoe is an Environmental & Sustainability Project Lead, driving initiatives focused on energy, water and waste management, decarbonisation, and regulatory compliance. Her expertise includes ISO 50001-aligned energy management systems, renewable energy integration, utilities data management, and sustainability reporting.

At the AEE Africa Conference 2026, Reabetsoe will explore “Decarbonisation in the Automotive Industry: A Case Study of OEMs in Eastern Cape Province,” offering insights into the opportunities and challenges facing one of South Africa’s key industrial sectors as it responds to the global energy transition.

Celebrating the Women Powering the Future of Energ
As we wrap up our Powering Her Future: Women Shaping the Energy Sector campaign, we celebrate Simmie Reddy, a Chemical Engineer and freelance Energy & Measurement and Verification (M&V) Consultant.

Simmie’s entry into the energy sector was more by circumstance than design, but she quickly discovered an industry where her skills could make a meaningful difference.

With expertise in energy management, energy efficiency, M&V, data analysis and mathematical modelling, she has built a career focused on helping organisations make better, evidence-based energy decisions.

Her career includes technical and leadership roles within the ECS Measurement and Verification Body, as well as a decade of service with the MVCA, where she currently serves as Vice-President.

💬 Her advice to young women? Be determined, be diligent and be outspoken. Invest in your development, embrace data and never underestimate the power of your voice.

As we close this campaign, we reflect on the stories of women who are engineers, entrepreneurs, sustainability professionals, energy managers, communicators, leaders and innovators , each contributing to the energy sector in her own way.

Chisakula Kaputu of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) joins the AEE Africa Conference 2026, bringing more than 25 years of experience across Africa’s energy sector.

As a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®️), Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP®️), and Renewable Energy Consultant, Chisakula has built a distinguished career supporting energy transition through renewable energy development, energy efficiency, policy development, and sustainable financing solutions.

His contribution to the sector includes playing a key role in the development of Zambia’s Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff (REFiT) policy, Namibia’s Building Energy Codes, and numerous industrial energy efficiency programmes.

In his current role as Senior Energy Specialist at IDC, Chisakula provides strategic support across renewable energy, energy efficiency, transaction advisory, project development, energy policy, innovative financing models, and ESG frameworks.

Meet Mila Vicquery, General Manager at Syntiro Energy Partners.

Mila’s journey into the energy sector began not in engineering, but in economics, finance and financial consulting. After years working in financial audit and consulting, she was drawn to energy by the opportunity to connect financial performance with sustainability and measurable impact.

Over nearly two decades, her career has evolved across energy analytics, financial modelling, digital product development and business leadership.

Today, Mila leads Syntiro, a financial control platform helping large organisations understand the true cost of energy by connecting consumption, tariffs, assets, renewables, carbon and production metrics into one auditable view.

What excites her most is the transformation underway: energy is no longer simply an operational expense — it is becoming a strategic financial, contractual and carbon exposure.

💬 Her advice to young women? Build strong quantitative skills, question the numbers, challenge assumptions and go where the ground is still being broken.

Syed Abbas Raza of the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), Qatar, joins the AEE Africa Conference 2026, bringing more than 20 years of experience in process design and energy optimisation across the oil and gas sector in the Middle East.

A Chartered Chemical Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), UK, Syed combines extensive industry experience with his current role as an Instructor in Process Engineering, where he contributes to developing the next generation of engineering professionals.

He is also a Chartered Energy Manager (CEM®️) with the Energy Institute, UK, with expertise spanning process engineering, energy optimisation, process integration, and sustainable industrial practices.

Syed holds a Master’s degree in Process Integration from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Technology from the University of Karachi, Pakistan.

Janine Pascoe of SLR Consulting joins the AEE Africa Conference 2026, bringing more than a decade of experience across climate change, energy efficiency, carbon management, and low-carbon transition planning.

As a Climate Change and Resource Efficiency Specialist, Janine supports organisations in navigating the complex intersection of decarbonisation, energy security, climate risk, and business resilience. Her work focuses on helping organisations move beyond rigid decarbonisation pathways towards adaptive, risk-informed approaches that respond to an increasingly uncertain energy landscape.

Janine’s expertise spans carbon pricing, climate-risk assessment, GHG inventories, carbon budgets, carbon benchmarks, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation strategy development.

She has worked across diverse industries, including mining, mineral and metal processing, petrochemicals, commercial real estate, renewable energy, hospitality, and food and beverage. Her work has also contributed to clients securing more than R8 billion in deductions and allowances through energy efficiency incentive applications.

Janine holds a PhD in Engineering and is a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP).
