Unlocking Hope: Starting a Business With What You Already Have
At Inceba Projects, we believe that no one is left empty-handed. When families face economic hardship, it’s easy to focus on what is missing: money, resources, or formal capital. But during our recent Entrepreneurship Skills Workshop, our parents discovered a powerful truth: we all have starting capital!
Inspired by Matthew 25:15, where every servant was entrusted with something according to their ability, our moms and dads participated in a hands-on "Asset Audit." Instead of looking at bank balances, we looked around our homes and communities to identify three vital tools:
Our Skills & Knowledge (baking vetkoek, sewing, cleaning, gardening, braiding hair)
Our Physical Assets (a stove, an iron, a bucket, a needle and thread, or a smartphone)
Our Community Networks (WhatsApp groups, neighbors, church family, and school contacts)
By combining 1 Skill + 1 Tool + 1 Network, attendees left with tangible, zero-capital business ideas and learned our 3-Step Unit Cost Pricing Formula to ensure their micro-businesses earn a real profit. We also introduced the Re-Stock Rule: set aside stock money first so their business can grow sustainably!
