Historic Bathurst AGM at PIG on 18th Jan
The venue was packed with more than forty people in the lounge at the PIG for the AGM of Historic Bathurst. This was followed by a fascinating and well researched talk by Serena Gess entitled “The settlers in the Albany thicket”. Tom Barrett briefly reviewed the work undertaken by the society during the last 12 months at Bradshaw’s Mill, the Toposcope and the Powder Magazine, noting the invaluable work undertaken by David Forsdyke and Martin Courts. pictured. As a token of appreciation, they have been made Honorary Life Members and were presented with their Certificates during the meeting. At present the Mill is undergoing urgent repairs but generally all three sites are in an excellent state of repair and are attracting more and more visitors to the village and surrounds. The major challenges facing HB are the lack of new younger faces on the committee and ensuring that the information being generated is preserved for future generations.
