CNN visited the Barrydale Analog Festival (BAPF) on the final day of the 10-day festival at the end of December 2025.
CNN cameraman Peter Rudden spent the day with us as we created wet plate images and printed handmade cyanotype prints from the negatives. It was a full day of analogue process, collaboration, and creativity.
We also spent time with the youth from the community who are part of the Visuality Photography School that fall under our UPSKILL Barrydale NPC.
They were shooting black-and-white INSTAX Wide images using film generously donated by Fujifilm, One of our sponsors of the BAPF Festival
The young photographers showed a strong instinct for composition and timing, producing beautiful sets of images on the INSTAX Wide format. It was inspiring to see their confidence and creative eye developing so naturally.
The six th 10th Day Analog Festival, hosted from the 12-20 th December, was a great success, with outstanding analogue photographers exhibiting — including legends that shot for Drum Magazine , international photographers like Tim Page, Patrick De Mervelec, Local photographers like Roy Zatisky, Graham Abbott, Sean Wilson ,and Obie Oberholzer, to name just a few.
Many workshops were held by Nicolai Nielson and others,
More about the exhibition will follow in upcoming posts. In this post, I’m sharing a short snippet from the CNN ,Inside Africa TV Program that is being aired on Channel 401 all of this week till Sunday , ill share the times in the comments. For more on the Barrydale Analog Photo Festival visit www.BAPF.co.za
