Boys Don't Cry: Emotional Silence, Trauma and Masculinity

For generations, boys have been taught to "man up", hide their emotions, and carry their pain in silence. But what happens when trauma goes unspoken? How does emotional silence shape relationships, mental health, violence, and masculinity itself?

Join Callas Foundation and MenEngage South Africa for an important intergenerational conversation during Men's Mental Health Month as we explore the impact of emotional suppression on boys and men, and the pathways to healing, vulnerability, and healthy masculinities.

🧑 Child Protection Week 2026

"Working Together in Ending Violence Against Children"

Children thrive when they are surrounded by communities that care, protect, and support them. This Child Protection Week, we are reminded that keeping children safe is a shared responsibility. Whether you are a parent, caregiver, teacher, neighbour, coach, faith leader, or community member, we all have a role to play in creating a safer world for our children.

At Callas Foundation, we know that ending violence against children starts with prevention, education, and positive role models. Throughout this week, our team will be visiting schools through our Human Rights Clubs and BBB Boys Programme, engaging learners in conversations about children's rights, safety, respect, healthy relationships, and the importance of speaking up when they need help.

By working together with schools, families, and communities, we can create environments where children feel safe, valued, heard, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Together, we can build communities where every child is protected and every child belongs. πŸ€ŽπŸ–€πŸ€πŸ‘§πŸΏπŸ‘¦πŸΌπŸ‘§πŸ½πŸ‘¦πŸΎπŸ‘§πŸ»πŸ‘¦πŸΏπŸ§’πŸ½

Eid al-Adha Mubarak to all celebrating. πŸŒ™βœ¨

As families and communities gather in faith, reflection and generosity, may this sacred occasion bring peace to your homes, strength to your hearts and blessings to all those you hold dear.

Eid reminds us of compassion, sacrifice, unity and caring for those most vulnerable among us. May we continue to uplift one another, feed the hungry, support those in pain and build communities rooted in dignity, kindness and justice.

Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed, peaceful and joy-filled Eid al-Adha.

Today we celebrate Africa Day πŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦πŸŒ

A day to honour our continent, our people, our cultures, our resilience, and the generations who fought for freedom, dignity, and justice.

But as we celebrate Africa, we must also confront the realities many still face every day β€” poverty, hunger, inequality, violence against women and children, unemployment, displacement, and injustice.

The Africa we dream of cannot be built while women live in fear.
It cannot thrive while children go to bed hungry.
It cannot prosper while communities continue to carry the weight of trauma and inequality.

Yet, despite all of this, I remain hopeful.

Because across our communities, I see ordinary people doing extraordinary things:
Women feeding communities from small kitchens.
Young people rising above violence.
Men beginning journeys of healing.
Communities choosing solidarity over silence.

Africa lives in her people.
Africa rises through her people.

May we continue building an Africa rooted in dignity, equality, healing, compassion, and justice for all.

Happy Africa Day.

Happy Birthday dear Phelisa 🌸

From all of us at the Callas Foundation, we want to hold you with so much love today. We know this birthday is bittersweet, especially with the loss of your beloved brother still so fresh and painful. Please know that we are thinking of you, standing with you, and holding space for your grief as you navigate this difficult season.

Thank you for the incredible woman you are β€” for your strength, your compassion, your calm presence, and the way you continue to show up for others even while carrying your own pain. You are such an important part of the Callas family. Thank you for holding us, supporting the work, and bringing your heart into everything you do.

We are deeply grateful for you, and we hope that amidst the sadness, you will also feel the love, appreciation, and respect that surrounds you today.

May this new year bring you comfort, healing, strength, and gentle moments of peace.

With love and gratitude always,
The Callas Foundation Team ❀️
