Mandela Day Toy-Making Workshop 💚🌍

What an incredible two days!

Together with Nebula Group and Clothes to Good, and our generous sponsors, we celebrated Mandela Day by transforming everyday recycled materials into something truly special.

Bottle caps became wheels.
Plastic bottles became toy bodies.
Old T-shirts found a new purpose.
Even a shoe sole became part of a toy.

With a little creativity, patience, and plenty of laughter, the room soon filled with colourful handmade creations, each one completely unique.

The highlight?

Every participant made nine different educational toys to take back to their early childhood development centres, along with a step-by-step manual and the skills to create even more in the future. These toys will soon be in the hands of children, encouraging play, learning, and imagination.

Over the two days, we didn't just make toys—we shared ideas, learned from one another, and discovered the incredible value hidden in materials that might otherwise have been thrown away.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed their time, energy, and support to make this workshop possible. Your generosity and enthusiasm will have a lasting impact on the children and communities these toys will reach.

This Easter, we were reminded that it’s the little things that matter most. 🧡

Today, the SRCC Foundation supported a community outreach in Aquapark, sharing Easter eggs, toys, and clothes with over 250 children and elderly community members.

"Driving the Future Together: Your Journey, Our Commitment"

The official handover of a 51-seater Fuso Bus took place at Kirkwood High School on Tuesday 8 August 2023. The SRCC Foundation Trust, together with the support of donors, recognized the need for the school to replace its current bus which was over 40 years old. The Bus will be housed and looked after by Kirkwood High School, however, surrounding High Schools can book the bus for school outings through Kirkwood High School.
SRCC has a long history in the Sundays River Valley and forms a vital part of the community and is committed to continued education development. The interventions we do in this valley cannot happen without the generous donors who support and trust our foundation. We would like to thank the following donors for their contributions:

The SRCC Foundation Trust celebrated its annual Gala Dinner at Addo Elephant Park on Thursday 20th April 2023. This was an opportunity for us to honour and thank all the donors of our Trust and who enable us to invest in our community in the Sundays River Valley.
It also served as an opportunity to announce the official handover of a new school bus to Kirkwood High School. The bus is in the final stages of completion and will soon be seen on the move in the Sundays River Valley. This will enable the school to provide safe and reliable transport to school and sporting events.

We are grateful to all the donors who have supported us in our endeavors to be "hands-on" in community development through focus on education and health care.

We would also like to thank Roland Gasper, Therese Smith and Dave Houghton who provided top-class entertainment throughout the evening.

Proud to share this news!

🎊 Student News 🎉

A proud moment was shared at school today between Chumani Pokbas and her parents as they received some very exciting news.

Congratulations to one of our Grade 7 learners, Chumani Pokbas, for receiving a 5 year scholarship from the SRCC Foundation to continue her school career at Kirkwood High School from Grade 8 next year. The scholarship is a life changing opportunity as it also includes three years of tertiary education once she graduates from Grade 12.

Chumani is the very first recipient of this scholarship in the Sundays River Valley. This is a true testimony of her hard work and dedication and what it means to Believe, Strive and Achieve.

Well done Chumani, we are very proud of you and know that you will make the most of this opportunity.

SRCC Foundation - proudly supporting
So Friday, 22 July dawned, a beautiful sunny Winters’ morning in the Sundays River Valley - a day full of promise and hope!
The toys which were so generously donated by SRCC employees were sorted and split between two Daycare Centres in the Addo area. The children were treated to a story read by Monique Windvogel and Nomsa Keta! Thereafter they got stuck into the boxes of donated toys! This was followed by ball games and the highlight of the morning was playing soccer with Garry. The children had SO much fun which was evident from their tired, yet beaming faces after the soccer game. Guaranteed it wasn’t only the children who had fun, the SRCC staff volunteers had just as much fun!

While ball games and laughter was being experienced on the one side of the Daycare Centre, another Team from SRCC Maintenance was hard at work fixing water leaks and broken pipes on the other side of the Centre! A job well done, thank you. Water leak is now fixed and the water is restored.

The day ended on a high note with Clover SA donating Amazi Milk to the registered Soup kitchens and Daycare Centres throughout the Sundays River Valley. What a welcome treat this was for everyone!

A huge Thank you to all who volunteered and their respective Managers for supporting this much needed and fun-filled morning. All who work at SRCC can be proud of their visionary Leaders who appreciate, understand and continuously support the needs of the communities in the Sundays River Valley!
