Thembalethu Trust

Thembalethu Trust Research has shown that poor children are twice as likely to have no access to safe play areas, fundamental for the healthy development and growth of a child.

Thembalethu Trust (‘Our Hope’) outreach program is a collaborative response to the problems of poverty in the Sundays River Valley, which in recent years has focussed on early learning and preschools education. For this reason, Thembalethu has focussed primarily on the Preschool Program in order to provide a safe, caring environment where young children can receive education, stimulation, and basi

c nutrition. Currently the Preschool Program is maintained by four local volunteer Trustees (Natalie Hansen, Debbie Miller, Adrian van der Merwe and James Miller). The Trustees are hands on, and personally oversee any projects taken on by the Trust.

Currently the Preschool Program is maintained by four local volunteer Trustees - Natalie Hansen, Debbie Miller, Adrian van der Merwe and James Miller.

The Trustees are determined to reduce administrative costs and ensure that donor funding impacts the beneficiaries directly. Consequently, no salaries are drawn by the Trustees and their services are voluntary. The services of a bookkeeper are enlisted, and an Annual Financial Report is produced.

The Trustees are ❤️ passionate about what the Thembalethu program stands for and are hands on with the projects taken on by the Trust. 🙌

Nomathamsanqa is a settlement close to the 🐘 Addo Elephant Park and is one of the most deprived communities in the Eastern Cape. 🇿🇦

With the outreach shifting its focus on early learning and preschools education, 📚 Nomathamsanqa Educare Centre in Addo is currently the primary beneficiary. Housing merely three classrooms and consisting of a principle, 2 teachers, a cook, gardener and cleaner, these educators have dedicated years of service (some up to 27 years) and tirelessly shared heart-warming passion despite daunting challenges and shockingly low incomes. ❤️👩🏾‍🏫

It is their commitment that has inspired the ongoing support of the Trust. 🙌
