Youth Day reminds us of the courage of the young people who helped shape our nation’s future and of our responsibility to invest in the generations that follow.

Today we celebrate the dreams, talents and potential of every young person.

Following a challenging week of severe weather in the Sundays River Valley, Place of Mercy and Hope continued its outreach to local families on Friday.

With a generous food donation from Addo Primary School, our staff prepared and served hot meals to children and community members, while also distributing fresh pears.

We are grateful to everyone who helped make this possible and to the staff who gave their time and energy to serve others.

Last Friday, the children at Place of Mercy put their learning into practice.

They have been learning about fruit, vegetables, and healthy eating, and brought in their own vegetables to make a shared potjiekos.

Some were unsure at first, but they gave it a try. In the end, every plate was finished, and many came back for seconds. Our teachers were left scraping the pot 😆.

A small but meaningful step in building healthy habits 🥦.

Our home-based carers recently hosted a presentation for parents at Place of Mercy, introducing the Flourish Grow Great programme and its antenatal and postnatal classes.

These sessions support mothers and families during pregnancy and early childhood, focusing on nutrition, health, and the critical first 1000 days of a child’s development. It is an important part of the care we provide, although not often seen.

The presentation was well received, with strong engagement and meaningful discussion throughout.

A time to reflect, give thanks, and come together. Wishing you and your loved ones a Happy Easter.

Our Grade R learners at Place of Mercy brought the story of the events of Holy Week to life through acting and storytelling.

A meaningful way to learn, reflect, and understand this important time in the Christian calendar.

We wish all the members of the Marist Mercy Care community a blessed Good Friday.
