South African Medical Exp Hope for each new day

The Smile.
Hope against all odds.
The raw reality only we see, and the results we show that only LOVE can produce.

When young minds meet the wild, everything changes.

This week, Tomo Safari Lodge in the heart of Balule Reserve opened its doors to our senior students from Sigagule Children’s Centre.

Imagine it: wide eyes on their first game drive, tracking, listening, asking a hundred questions. Learning why every track, tree, and tusk matters. Ending the day with lunch on the deck, trading stories with the rangers who protect this place every single day.

Conservation isn’t just about saving animals. It’s about growing a generation that cares, understands, and leads.

That only happens through partnerships.
Thank you to Tomo Safari Lodge for giving our students more than a day out — you gave them a future to believe in.

Food parcel day has once again come our way....THANK YOU . In addition we were swept away as each family member received a broom from Sparrow Schools. ONE HUNDRED and EIGHTY to be exact. That meant each family gets to sweep to their hearts content.
Always forever grateful for those who consistently provide support which enables us to focus on what we do best. Providing hope for each new day.

In Sigagule, hope starts with a needle and thread 🪡*

Most who walk through the doors of Z**i Sewing Centre have never held a needle before. No sewing machine. No experience. Just hands ready to learn.

We start with the basics — threading, hand stitches, a first lumpy pin cushion.
Then comes the handbag they design themselves.
And finally, the moment they take their own measurements and stitch their first garment. Stitch by stitch, by their own hand.

Z**i isn’t just a sewing centre. It’s where skills get passed down, where artisans share what they know, and where women turn what they make into income for their homes.

From “I can’t” to “I made this.”
That’s the story we’re stitching in Sigagule.

Rotary Hoedspruit once again sponsored a rotary youth leadership camp for our 2025 Ryla graduates of SAME. The aim of the group was to refresh all previous leadership exercises and improve future leadership skills. This leadership camp was held in an environmental theme at Koru Camp and not an obstacle  adventure  camp as the previous camp.
As always, we are immensely grateful to those who work alongside us to provide opportunities to the children within our care.

Children are not a distraction from work; they are the most important work.
The legacy won't be what you built in the world.
It will be who you raised and whether they felt seen and loved in your presence........
To all the mothers in our lives who kept hope alive in our hearts; who opened windows when doors closed; who carried us when we had no strength to walk.
To you we are forever grateful, may grace, love and mercy follow you all the days of your lives. ......
Blessed are you among women.

Hunger doesn’t announce itself. It shows up as a child who can’t concentrate in class. As a mother skipping her own meal so her kids can eat. As a grandmother choosing between medicine and maize meal.

That’s the reality for too many vulnerable families. And it’s why *South African Medical programmes (SAME)* exists.

SAME doesn’t hand out food and walk away. They build a safety net that catches families before they fall:

1. *Monthly food parcels. Every month, SAME delivers substantial food parcels that keep a family of four fed. No more choosing between one meal today or two tiny meals tomorrow. It’s consistent, reliable, and it restores dignity.

2. *Daily hot meals. For the most vulnerable, SAME serves daily hot meals. For a child heading to school or an elderly person living alone, that warm plate is often the only nutritious food they’ll get all day. It’s immediate relief when there’s nothing left in the pot.

3. *Fortified instant porridge. Malnutrition hits children hardest. SAME’s fortified instant porridge parcels are packed with essential nutrients to support growth and brain development. It’s a small sachet with a big impact — keeping kids healthy enough to learn and play.

The value goes beyond calories. When a family isn’t worrying about their next meal, children stay in school instead of dropping out. Parents can focus on finding work instead of foraging. Illness rates drop because bodies are properly nourished.

That’s the SAME approach*: Meet the immediate need with food, protect health with nutrition, and give families the stability to rebuild their lives.

One parcel. One hot meal. One bowl of porridge. That’s how you turn empty plates into full hearts.

Thank you our sponsors who consistently make this possible

Privileged to be able to partner with such an exceptional institution, where for several years our girls come through the culinary department and excel later in their practical work placements due to the foundations laid by the dedicated staff in the culinary and F&B departments at SACT.
