It is a non-profit foundation licensed by the Ministry of Culture, started as an initiative in February 2015 where it works on screening Yemeni and international films at cultural and educational places to play a role in peace-building and support young Yemeni filmmakers. Overcoming the difficulty of closing cinemas and making events on the street and in the cultural and educational spaces that ar
e possible and available. The need here is to introduce new patterns of parallel positive cultures based on the visual arts, for the ability of the image and the arts to change and influence. Investing in culture and arts opens the door to a world of economy and entrepreneurship at its widest, supporting a better life for young people by creating an opening cultural, artistic and literary projects that contribute to a better life for youth in Yemen. Since 1990, cinemas in Yemen have been closed to society for many reasons and have been used as stores, wedding halls, and others. Shift Foundation runs for:
1. Producing films about the history of Cinema in Yemen and peacebuilding.
2. Screening Yemeni and International films by CineShow program and KidsShow program.
3. Organizing the International Yemeni Film Festival.
شفت في لغة التكنولوجيا الحديثة تعني غيّر, وفى اللهجة المحلية بمعنى النظر, وتعمل المبادرة على غاية محددة ترتكز على "تغيير النظرة " تجاه السينما المثقلة بالسلبية والتحيز الثقافي.
وقد بدأت المبادرة رسميا عملها في فبراير, 2015 حيث تم التنسيق للفعاليات في مؤسسات تعليمية, لكن الحرب أوقفتنا حتى استؤنف نشاطنا في نوفمبر, 2015 بفعاليات للكبار ببنامج "CineShow"في فندق سبأ بشراكة مع شبكة القيادات الشبابية اليمنية ومؤسسة فيدريش ايبرت – مكتب اليمن ومؤسسة إبحار للطفولة والإبداع بعروض للأطفال ببرنامج"KidsShow".
